Days of Our Lives Recap: Wednesday, September 27 – Xander’s Custody Fight, Love Declarations and a Crumbly Sign from Susan

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, September 27, reveals that Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) was frustrated at a London café with Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) since Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) hadn’t been sending any more signs.

After Ava called out to Susan for help, Harris noticed there was an “E” in the crumbs where his scone had been. Some online research led to Harris finding the wedding announcement for Susan and Edmund Crumb (Adam Caine) from 25 years ago, so he gave Ava updates.

Back at Harris and Ava’s hotel, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) arrived outside the duo’s room before using the keycard the desk clerk gave them.

Ava and Harris obviously weren’t there, but Jada found the passports that Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) had doctored for them.

While Rafe and Jada were waiting for Harris and Ava to return, the cops mulled over why they’d travel to London instead of going somewhere off the grid.

Rafe suggested that maybe Ava and Harris were running to something instead of running away, so he decided to call Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) for more information.

At home on Wednesday’s Days episode, Tripp returned from his shift to find Wendy online searching for a new job. Wendy assured Tripp that it wasn’t his fault EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) fired her, especially since Tripp told her to stay out of it.

After the conversation shifted to Tripp giving Rafe info on Ava’s location, Wendy wondered how Rafe got him to talk. Tripp tried to change the subject, but Wendy grew increasingly curious and pushed him for the truth.

Once Tripp admitted Rafe threatened to go after Wendy if he didn’t cooperate, she reeled over Rafe forcing him to choose between his girlfriend and his mother.

Wendy was surprised over Tripp choosing her and asked why he’d do that. Tripp thought it was obvious and confessed if was because he loved Wendy.

After Tripp said he’d been wanting to say it for a while, Wendy realized his hesitation was about Allie Horton (Linsey Godfrey) not saying it back.

Once Wendy insisted it wouldn’t be the same way with her, she admitted she was in love with Tripp, too.

Wendy kissed Tripp before they decided to celebrate in the bedroom, but Rafe’s phone call interrupted.

Rafe told Tripp that Scotland Yard had Ava and Harris in custody, so Tripp frantically spilled how they were trying to find an alive Susan and hoped that could help his mom’s case.

After Rafe said he’d let Tripp know once he found Ava, Tripp realized he’d been duped and fumed as he filled Wendy in.

Rafe also brought Jada up to speed on Susan’s possible survival, so they contemplated whether that news was true.

In Chloe Lane’s (Nadia Bjorlin) apartment on Wednesday’s DOOL show, Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) said he wanted to check on her since he knew she told Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) about Victoria Horton’s paternity.

Philip assured Chloe that he understood why she did it, but she worried Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) and Rex Brady (Kyle Lowder) wouldn’t be so understanding now that the truth was out.

As for Xander, Chloe was adamant about the wedding not happening since this revelation changed everything, even if Xander tried to convince her it didn’t.

That’s why Chloe sent Xander to Sarah at the pub – though Philip mentioned that Sarah and Rex tied the knot before his arrival.

Chloe also confessed to eavesdropping on the other part of Philip’s conversation and said she heard enough to know he might still be in love with her.

That led to Chloe admitting that when Philip showed up alive, it awakened the part of her that loved him, too. Chloe had been trying to pretend that part didn’t exist, but it had been there since she was a teenager and couldn’t be denied anymore.

Philip asked if Chloe was saying she still had feelings for him, but then he backtracked and decided she shouldn’t say something she might regret based on her current emotional state.

Chloe insisted this wasn’t about what happened with Xander and knew Philip wouldn’t take advantage of her vulnerability. That was something the old Philip would do, but Chloe knew Philip had gotten the help he needed and that he’d changed.

Philip said he’d better go, but he told Chloe that he’d always be there for her on his way out.

Outside the pub on Wednesday’s Days episode, Xander pushed Sarah for an explanation about why she lied about Victoria’s paternity.

Sarah didn’t want her little girl to grow up with a criminal for a father and rehashed Xander’s role in Susan’s demise.

Xander insisted he regretted that, but Sarah wondered if he regretted working with Gwen Rizcezch (Emily O’Brien) and stealing The Spectator away from Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), too.

Sarah complained about Xander moving them into a roach motel and becoming a kidnapper instead of accepting Maggie Kiriakis’ (Suzanne Rogers) financial help.

However, Xander said that was really Victor Kiriakis’ (John Aniston) money – and he wouldn’t take a dime from Victor after the way he’d been belittled!

Sarah pointed out that Xander accepted Ava’s ransom money and acted like he hadn’t put enough effort into finding a real job.

Xander insisted he did what he felt he had to do, so Sarah argued she did the same thing when it came to deceiving him about Victoria’s paternity.

Although Xander ranted about Rex being a liar and a serial cheater, Sarah threw all Xander’s past crimes in his face. Xander said he’d never harm his own child, but Sarah stood by her decision.

When Rex appeared, Xander snarled that Rex could go off on his honeymoon with Sarah while he got acquainted with his daughter.

Rex informed Xander that his own name was on the birth certificate and that he was married to Sarah, so he was the father in the eyes of the law.

Xander acted like a quick DNA test would change that, but Rex warned about the ugly legal battle ahead and insisted no judge would side with a convicted felon over two highly respected physicians.

After seething Xander vowed to be part of Victoria’s life, he warned that Sarah and Rex weren’t going to stop him. Xander planned to fight for Victoria harder than he’d ever fought for anything in his life.

As Xander stomped off on Wednesday’s Days episode, Sarah and Rex stood there looking deeply troubled.
