Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, January 16, reveals that Bonnie Kiriakis (Judi Evans) and Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) invited Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) to have dinner with them, so Sarah took them up on the offer and asked Justin to represent her in the divorce.
However, Bonnie admitted that she’d be a hypocrite to stand against Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) since she’d made mistakes of her own.
With that in mind, Bonnie suggested Sarah should give Xander a second chance.
Although Justin thought Bonnie was being perhaps a bit too charitable, he agreed that Sarah should let the dust settle and hold off on her divorce for now.
In Xander’s motel room on Monday’s Days episode, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) showed up and found him incredibly drunk.
Xander talked about how his life had imploded and confessed that Sarah wanted to divorce him.
Gwen revealed that Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) tried to convince her to take a plea deal, but she refused to snitch on Xander.
After Gwen decided that Xander needed to sober up with a shower, she dragged him into one fully clothed.
Although Xander felt more alert as a result, he was all wet and had to change.
Gwen accepted a dry shirt from Xander since her own clothes had gotten damp as well.
Once Sarah arrived, she was furious when Gwen opened the door wearing Xander’s shirt and knew it was a mistake to come there.
Gwen insisted this wasn’t what it looked like, but Sarah clearly didn’t buy it.
Xander fell trying to put his clothes on as he yelled for Sarah to wait, but she was disgusted and took off anyway.
At the Horton house on Monday’s DOOL show, Will Horton (Chandler Massey) overheard Leo talking to Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) about trying to testify anonymously against Xander.
Sloan explained the challenges of that, but Leo was determined to keep Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) out of the loop on his role in the fake kidnapping and cover-up.
Once Will got the news about Leo being the faux clown kidnapper, he met up with Sonny at the hospital and filled him in.
Sonny fumed over that “sneaky son of a bitch” and later found Leo at the Kiriakis mansion, where he ripped into Leo over his terrible behavior.
Leo learned Will had discovered his secret and tried to defend himself, but it was no use. Sonny refused to forgive Leo, who was still a selfish con artist in his eyes.
After everything Sonny had done for Leo, he couldn’t believe that Leo would do this to his family.
On Monday’s Days episode, Sonny ranted about how traumatized Bonnie was and the toll this had taken on Justin.
After Sonny made it clear that they weren’t friends, he warned Leo to get out before he had him thrown out.
Leo gathered up his belongings, but he insisted their bond was real and thought Sonny knew that deep down.
Sonny wasn’t sure if he’d go to the police or not, but he looked hurt as he watched Leo leave.
After Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) summoned Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn), he confessed he already knew about Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) shutting off her phone since he heard it from Sonny.
Although Chad pointed out Alex didn’t know what he was calling about, Stephanie stood by her decision to dump him.
Alex cost Stephanie a chance to say a final goodbye to Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans), so she insisted she was done with him.
Chad also made Stephanie a spaghetti dinner before she found a bittersweet surprise: Kayla’s last apple pie in the fridge.
It was a special one that Kayla made since Stephanie missed Christmas, so Chad was glad to share it with her.
Stephanie thanked Chad since she didn’t know how she could’ve gotten through this night without him.
After Alex offered updates to Sonny on the end of his relationship, he wound up drinking at the bistro alone.
That’s where Sloan ran into Alex, who spilled the whole story about making Stephanie miss out on a farewell to her dying mom.
Sloan admitted that Alex really screwed up and didn’t think there was any way for him to fix this.
Nevertheless, Sloan said she was sorry for what it was worth and thought Alex’s real mistake was developing feelings.
No strings attached was still the way to go as far as Sloan was concerned.
Once Sloan sauntered off on Monday’s Days episode, Alex was left to mope over losing the only woman he’d ever truly fallen for.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Alex may score another shot with Stephanie down the road, but he’ll have to suffer in the meantime!
