Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, January 23, reveals that Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) returned to Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) ICU room and found an empty bed. There were concerns about where Marlena had been taken as Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) and Belle Brady (Martha Madison) appeared.
John Black (Drake Hogestyn) eventually wheeled Marlena down from the roof and hoped Sarah could restart her heart.
After John explained his rooftop gift for Marlena, Belle assured him that he did the right thing.
Unfortunately, Sarah was unable to save Marlena and insisted she was gone. Eric shared an emotional moment with Marlena as he thought back on how he could always count on her to listen.
It also became apparent that Eric was having a crisis of faith since God didn’t grant him a miracle.
Next on Monday’s Days episode, Belle sat by Marlena’s bedside and admitted to feeling like a scared little girl who couldn’t find her mom.
John ultimately had some scenes alone with Marlena and gave her one last kiss, but he assured her this wasn’t goodbye.
There were some romantic “Jarlena” flashbacks as John reflected on the past and how they’d be reunited one day.
On the roof again, John suggested that Marlena would be looking down on all of them.
Meanwhile, Marlena’s soul lifted out of her body and seemingly entered the gates of heaven.
Back at the hospital on Monday’s Days episode, Will Horton (Chandler Massey) got a phone call about his movie project getting the greenlight.
Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) assumed that was good news, but Will admitted it would mean spending months away on set in New Zealand.
That left Will concerned about his relationship with Sonny, but Sonny didn’t want to hold him back.
In the end, Will and Sonny tabled the discussion since Will couldn’t think about anything except Marlena right now.
When Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) arrived at the hospital on Monday’s DOOL show, she found Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) nearly locking lips.
Allie demanded to know “what the hell” was going on, but Sarah interrupted with updates on Marlena’s death.
After Allie gave Chanel the cold shoulder, she found Will in the chapel and shared a tearful embrace with him.
Belle left Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) a voicemail and tried to get Eric to come to the chapel as well, but he felt God wasn’t listening to him anymore.
Once Eric made it to the pub on Monday’s Days episode, he surrendered to temptation by downing a shot and ordering another one.
In the town square, Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) filled Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) in on his visit to Bayview, which was a total nightmare.
Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) hallucinated the whole time and thought Tripp was Charlie Dale (Mike Manning).
Tripp explained that Ava had to be restrained and sedated, so Wendy offered sympathy.
Once Johnny appeared, he revealed that Marlena was dead and trashed Tripp’s mom over Susan Banks’ (Stacy Haiduk) death, too.
Tripp nearly took a swing at Johnny, who blocked him and decked Tripp instead.
Wendy scolded Johnny, who walked off and found a pensive Chanel on a park bench.
Back with Wendy, she assured Tripp that Johnny had no right to talk about Ava like that.
Tripp was grateful for Wendy’s support, so she insisted that’s what friends are for – though the vibe between them looked a bit more than friendly!
