Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, August 21, reveals that Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) ordered Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) to take Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) on as a client and feed info to her that could help prosecute him.
It was Melinda’s way to make a big splash in the press and make sure soon-to-be-appointed Mayor Paulina Price (Jackee Harry) couldn’t jeopardize her job.
Sloan refused to risk losing her license by committing crimes for Melinda, who insisted she’d tell Eric Brady (temporarily played by Jason Gerhardt) the real paternity story regarding Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) baby.
However, Sloan felt confident that Eric wouldn’t leave her now that she was pregnant as well. Melinda warned her not to take that chance, but Sloan vowed to tell Eric the truth and take away Trask’s power over her.
Outside the pub on Monday’s Days episode, Belle Black Brady (Martha Madison) played referee between Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) and Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) as they bickered over her potentially saying yes to Xander Cook’s (Paul Telfer) proposal.
After Belle left, Brady tried to convince Chloe that Xander’s marriage offer was all about trying to get over Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey). Chloe acted like everyone’s past was part of who they were in the present and defended her relationship with Xander.
At Small Bar, Eric found Shawn drinking and expressed concern now that he was dealing with Victor Kiriakis’ (John Aniston) plane crash. Shawn ranted about why he was to blame and just wanted Eric to leave him alone.
When Eric refused, Shawn got physical with him just before Belle walked in. Belle’s arrival broke things up, so Eric made a quick exit.
Although Shawn tried to push Belle away too, she refused to leave him – even if that meant she had to sit there and watch him drink.
At the DiMera mansion on Monday’s Days episode, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) broke the news of Victor’s demise to Nicole.
Although Nicole didn’t have good memories of their marriage and Victor’s rotten treatment of her, she admitted she deserved it and acknowledged that he was funny. It was hard for Nicole to think of Salem without Victor there.
Talk turned to their engagement, so EJ surprised Nicole by suggesting they should get married right away. In fact, EJ wanted to whisk Nicole off to Italy on the DiMera jet for an ASAP elopement.
Nicole got on board, but then EJ called and received some disappointing updates. Dimitri von Leuschner (Peter Porte) already used the DiMera jet for his honeymoon trip to Iceland, so EJ suggested they elope in Salem instead.
Once EJ bumped into Melinda outside the pub later, he admitted he was off to get his marriage license so he could tie the knot with Nicole. Melinda wondered if EJ was sure he wanted to do that, so he questioned what that was supposed to mean.
When Eric returned home to find Sloan looking uneasy, she also confessed she had something to tell him.
At the Kiriakis mansion on Monday’s DOOL show, Xander angrily asked if Sarah was ever going to tell him that she was pregnant with his child. Sarah insisted the baby belonged to Rex Brady (Kyle Lowder) instead and explained that they slept together once before they left Salem.
Xander was skeptical at first, but Sarah argued that this was why she got back together with Rex – that they saw the baby’s paternity as fate.
Although Xander mostly seemed to believe Sarah, he warned her to call him if the baby popped out with a Scottish accent!
After some talk about Xander’s proposal to Chloe, he ultimately stomped off since Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) was resting and couldn’t handle any more visitors right now.
Once Sarah was alone on Monday’s Days episode, she called Rex to reveal that she was saying yes to his own offer of marriage.
While Brady mourned Victor at the pub, Xander met up with Chloe back at their apartment. Chloe reflected on how Maggie loved Victor despite his past and confessed that she’d decided to become Xander’s wife.
Xander realized this engagement was actually happening, so he slipped the ring on Chloe’s finger and happily pulled her into a lip lock.
