Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 24, reveals that Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) held Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) back from lunging at Midge Waters (Natalie Cole Gilbert), another patient who somewhat resembled Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk).
It looked like the real Susan in Ava’s head, so she screamed at “Susan” to leave her alone and told Harris that she was back for revenge.
Harris eventually calmed Ava down and convinced her that it wasn’t actually Susan. Ava worried the staff would keep Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) from visiting because of her setback and feared she might never be well enough for a release.
Harris offered a pep talk and suggested calling Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) for help, but Ava ran down a list of problems she’d caused for Marlena and her loved ones. Even so, Harris felt that Marlena was remarkably nonjudgmental and that she’d be willing to offer assistance.
After Marlena and Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) discussed Victor Kiriakis’ (John Aniston) passing at the pub, talk turned to Eric Brady (temporarily played by Jason Gerhardt) proposing to Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) and having a baby with her.
Roman grumbled over Marlena’s baby shower suggestion, but she eventually got him on board and urged him to call Eric about throwing one.
In the meantime, Marlena showed up at Bayview, so Harris stepped away with her to offer updates on what was happening with Ava.
That left Ava alone to deal with another Susan vision. “Susan” warned Ava that no one could help her – not until Ava started telling the truth!
At the hospital on Thursday’s Days episode, Sloan woke up and assumed the loss of her baby had been a bad dream, but Eric admitted it was real.
After running some tests, Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) delivered news about Sloan’s autoimmune disorder and how it likely caused a blood clot that led to the miscarriage.
Although the condition was incurable, there were effective treatments. Sloan worried that she’d always have to worry about the blood clot if she ever got pregnant again, but Eric pushed her to just focus on her recovery for now.
Sloan also felt that she was being punished for the awful things she’d done. Eric assumed this had something to do with what Sloan was going to confess before she collapsed, so he pushed her to come clean.
After Kayla went off to retrieve some pamphlets about Sloan’s condition, she interrupted her conversation with Eric when she returned.
Eric got a text from Roman asking him to call back, so Sloan urged him to go do it since she needed some time to process everything alone.
In Li Shin’s (Remington Hoffman) bedroom, Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) snooped while he was still asleep and tried to find proof for his arrest. That led to Melinda getting into Li’s phone, but he woke up and questioned what she was doing.
Melinda pretended she grabbed Li’s phone by mistake, but he was suspicious of what she was up to when she headed into the bathroom for a shower.
Soon after, Melinda overheard Tripp talking to Kayla about Sloan’s miscarriage over the phone, so she took off for the hospital.
Li found out from Tripp that Melinda left and basically gloated about their marathon bedroom session. However, Li was cagey about his future with Melinda and suggested it was a “we’ll see” situation.
Back at the hospital on Thursday’s DOOL show, Melinda found Sloan in her room and offered her condolences about the baby. Sloan was upset over Melinda finding out and doubted she really cared since Melinda was just blackmailing her yesterday.
Melinda insisted she was truly sorry for Sloan’s loss, but Sloan acted like it didn’t matter now anyway. Eric still had a baby he could raise and deserved the truth, so she planned to tell him everything.
That led to Melinda insisting she didn’t think Sloan should do that.
At the DiMera mansion on Thursday’s Days episode, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) had a nightmare that involved some memories of the night Ava ran Susan off the road.
EJ spoke to Nicole after he woke up and believed he had unresolved issues since he hadn’t been able to avenge Susan’s demise.
Nicole pushed EJ to focus on their baby instead of vengeance and got a message from her doctor about her prescription being refilled, so she headed to the hospital to pick it up.
Meanwhile, Eric spoke to Roman over the phone and shut down his baby shower suggestion. Nicole showed up just in time to overhear that Sloan lost the baby and looked distraught for Eric.
In the town square on Thursday’s Days episode, Tripp was out for a run when he literally bumped into EJ. There was major tension over Ava and her role in what happened to Susan.
Tripp argued that EJ exacerbated Ava’s mental relapse – not to mention he kidnapped Tripp during the whole ordeal.
EJ felt like it was wrong for Tripp to be blaming others for Ava’s actions and doubted Tripp’s claim that she was doing better.
Tripp argued it was true and said that when Ava was eventually released, EJ would just have to deal with it.
