Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 29, reveals that Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) hugged Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) and assumed he’d been held hostage by Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) all this time.
Brady also believed Kristen must’ve framed him for taking Philip out, but Philip admitted he was responsible for the frame-up instead. After Philip recapped the whole ugly story and asked for forgiveness, Brady decked him and made it clear that wasn’t happening.
Philip tried to explain that he’d been in a mental institution and that he’d gotten the help he needed. Brady was appalled to learn Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) and Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow) knew about all this.
Although Brady threatened to call the police and have Philip arrested, Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) pushed him to see that Philip was remorseful.
Since Victor would want family unity, Chloe urged Brady to stand down in memory of Victor. Brady said he’d have to think about it and left in a huff.
After Philip thanked Chloe, he mentioned that he’d need a lawyer. Chloe decided to call Belle Black Brady (Martha Madison) since she assumed Belle would want to help Philip as her friend.
In Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) office on Tuesday’s Days episode, Belle expressed concern over Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) since he wasn’t answering his phone and wasn’t allowing it to be tracked.
Belle worried that Shawn might be a danger to himself, so she convinced Marlena to reveal what Shawn told her earlier. Since it sounded like Shawn was giving up, that left Belle even more concerned.
In Shawn’s office, he once again gazed at his service weapon before Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) interrupted with big news. Now that Paulina was Salem’s new mayor, she announced that she was reinstating Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and demoting Shawn back to his detective position.
Shawn was surprised and initially seemed disappointed, but he claimed he believed it was the right call. Paulina could tell Shawn looked unsettled, but he said he was fine before she left.
After Shawn threw his police commissioner nameplate in the trash, he once again seemed tempted to take his own life. Fortunately, Shawn showed up at Marlena’s office soon after and handed over his weapon so he wouldn’t be tempted.
Belle was proud of Shawn for admitting he needed help and left once Marlena suggested they’d put him on a 24-hour hold. Shawn got emotional as Marlena assured him that he was both a patient and her family, so they expressed their love before embracing.
Back with Belle on Tuesday’s Days episode, she headed to Chloe’s door after being summoned.
Once Belle went inside, she was floored and relieved to see Philip – though he worried she wouldn’t feel that way once she found out what he did.
Brady also made his way to the Salem PD, where he left Shawn a note to call him about something important.
In Jada Hunter’s (Elia Cantu) room above the pub, she was amazed to see that Rafe had made the bed and cleaned up.
Rafe wanted to make himself useful since he wasn’t working right now, but Jada joked about him wasting his time on the bed – which they promptly messed up by making love.
Afterward on Tuesday’s DOOL show, Jada and Rafe went downstairs for some burgers. Paulina arrived with updates on how she just told Shawn that he was out and Rafe was back in.
Paulina also pointed out that she’d talk to the city council and get the dating policy changed since relationships needed to be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Rafe decided to hold off until that policy change was a done deal since he was really enjoying “hanging out” with Jada. Paulina said she could see that and decided she’d better get to the work on the policy change then since Salem needed Rafe pronto!
Once Paulina left, Jada thought maybe Rafe should take his job back, even if it meant they had to pump the brakes until the policy change went into effect.
However, Rafe wasn’t even sure he wanted to go back to the police department. That said, there was one thing Rafe was certain about, so he revealed that he was falling in love with Jada and earned a smile from her.
At Steve Johnson’s (Stephen Nichols) apartment on Tuesday’s Days episode, he reflected on his own experience with amnesia and how he eventually found his way back to Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans).
Abe Carver (James Reynolds) wasn’t ready to share a bed with Paulina, but Steve suggested maybe he should start at the beginning and go on a date with her.
Whether Abe’s memories returned or not, Steve felt confident that Abe would fall for Paulina all over again.
When Paulina showed up to fill Abe in on the police commissioner developments, he stopped her from leaving and asked if she’d like to go on a date with him. Paulina was taken aback over Abe’s request, but she seemed pleasantly surprised as she accepted the offer.
