Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers for Thursday, August 17, reveal that Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) will put their heads together on a new plan. Although Clint Rawlings (Grayson Berry) did his best to make Abe look incompetent and unwell at the press conference, Abe and Paulina won’t give up.
Even if Abe can’t resume his mayoral duties right now, he’ll remain determined to get Sweet Bits back open for business.
Abe wants to help Chanel Dupree (Ravens), so he’ll try to come through for her along with Paulina.
Meanwhile, Days spoilers say Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) will grieve the loss of Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) now that his body has been found.
Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow) will also receive updates on this grim news, so she’ll mourn for Victor and will want to get in touch with Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoiser) about his father’s fate.

It seems likely Kate will call Philip’s mental health facility within the next Days episode or two and realize Philip has already been released.
Next on Thursday’s DOOL episode, Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) will push Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) to accept his offer of marriage.
However, Chloe will continue to wrestle with concerns about Xander’s motives and past crimes.
Although Chloe defended Xander to Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and argued that he’s changed, Chloe will have to consider whether he’s changed enough to become husband material!
Days spoilers say Chloe’s instincts may be telling her to run in the opposite direction, but Xander will work to convince her that they can build a lasting life together after the wedding.
Xander will also have a big showdown with Brady before the week winds down, so they’ll nearly come to blows soon enough.
Of course, it won’t be long until Xander hears about Victor’s grim fate, so he’ll have to live with the fact that he never got a chance to patch things up with him.
