General Hospital Recap: Friday, August 11 – Sam Pumps The Brakes - Carly Detained at PCPD – Sad Nina Home Alone

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, August 11, reveals that Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) found Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) on the GH rooftop, where he opened up about losing a patient who’d been the father of Violet Finn’s (Jophielle Love) classmate.

That got Finn thinking about what would happen if Violet lost him, so he ultimately asked if Liz would be Violet’s guardian in that case.

Liz felt certain that Finn would be fine, but she agreed to be Violet’s guardian if he wasn’t.

Finn relaxed once he got that confirmation and did some stargazing with Elizabeth before they both made some wishes.

In bed at home, Ava Jerome (Maura West) got reassurance from Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) over the phone about Betty Rutherford (Ella Lentini).

Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) couldn’t sleep since she was excited about day camp tomorrow, so she ran in Ava’s room and asked who she was talking to.

Sonny got Ava to put him on the phone so that he could encourage Avery to go back to bed.

Later, Avery was still awake, so Ava agreed she could sleep in her bed tonight.

As Ava talked about all the friends Avery would make at day camp, Avery said she already had a new one since Betty was so nice.

At the PCPD, “Eddie Maine” aka Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth), Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) were all led in wearing handcuffs.

Since everyone was trying to shout explanations, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) warned them all to shut up or risk being put in a holding cell.

Chase wanted calmer updates on what happened, so Olivia explained how a lowlife at the bar wouldn’t take no for an answer.

The manager at The Highsider called to confirm he wouldn’t be pressing charges, so Chase said they could all be released once someone came down and signed for them.

“Eddie” phoned Sonny for help, so it wasn’t long until Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) woke up in bed by herself and questioned where her fiancé went.

Nina called Ava to tell her about Sonny’s disappearance, but Ava acted like this was just what it was like being engaged to a mobster.

There would always be abrupt departures and unanswered questions.

Nina said knowing that in theory was different than waking up alone. As Nina got a little teary later, she gazed at her engagement ring and looked pensive.

At home, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) did some digging about Pikeman online, but Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) had a more sizzling activity in mind when she joined him in bed.

However, Sam ultimately had to pump the brakes and ask Dante something while it was on her mind.

That led to Sam mentioning that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) wanted to rent the house Dante used to share with Lulu Spencer (last played by Emme Rylan).

Sam admitted it was her idea, so Dante decided it was a good one.

There was no reason for the place to sit empty when Maxie and her kids could be filling it with memories.

Dante felt that Lulu would approve – and if she woke up one day, she could decide what to do with the house.

Sam and Dante tried to get steamy again, but Dante got called down to the station about the incident involving Olivia.

At the hospital, Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) found Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) in his office, so Mason admitted he needed a doctor since a bar encounter with a feisty brunette got out of hand.

Mason admitted that her blonde friend hit him over the head, but he snuck out during all the confusion once he heard cop sirens.

Austin reluctantly stitched his cousin up before Mason sought the latest news on Betty.

Although Austin acted like Betty was Mason’s mole to keep tabs on, Mason insisted Austin and Ava were still involved.

Mason said there was a lot riding on this for all of them and thought maybe Ava needed to be reined in. Austin disagreed and downplayed the idea that Ava would spill anything to Sonny.

Mason insisted they didn’t need Ava exposing Betty or their agenda, but Austin acted like everything was going well.

That left Mason hopeful that Betty could find out about Sonny’s Pikeman deal since she was a good operative.

Back at the PCPD, Olivia refused to let Dante sign her out since that was like admitting she’d done something wrong.

Dante spoke with Olivia privately and convinced her to just sign for Leo Quartermaine’s (Easton Rocket Sweda) sake.

Dante said he could sign for Carly too, but Sonny showed up and said he could take care of it.

Carly immediately shut down that idea and urged Sonny to just sign for “Eddie” since he was the one who called him.

Sonny had a heated confrontation with Carly since he felt she was being stubborn.

Chase pointed out that after Sonny signed, Carly could just take a ride share off the record.

Carly still insisted on having Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) come sign for her, so Sonny wondered why she was putting her pride in front of everything else.

After Carly acted like her pride was all she had left, she refused to accept Sonny’s help and said she could take care of herself.

Sonny finally gave up, so Carly was stuck sitting at the police station since Josslyn’s phone was apparently on silent.

Carly didn’t want any special treatment, but Chase still let her hang out at a desk instead of a holding cell and offered her coffee.

Once Dante made it home, he got back in bed with Sam and made love to her.

While Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) went for a jog, someone wearing black dress shoes broke in her house, doused the place with gasoline and tossed down several lit matches.

The place quickly went up in flames, so Anna was alarmed over the blaze as she came back and called 911.

General Hospital spoilers say Anna will face other shockers as this storyline gets more complicated, so stay tuned.
