General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, December 29, reveals that Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) nearly backed out of skydiving with Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison), but she ultimately found her courage.
In the aftermath, Alexis said that was probably the most transformative moment of her life and seemed exhilarated.
Gregory pulled Alexis into a kiss, so she kissed back and then watched the New Year’s Eve fireworks with him.
In Trina Robinson’s (Tabyana Ali) dorm room, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) found a letter that revealed she’d been accepted to study at the Sorbonne in Paris.
Trina explained that she had applied on a whim, but she couldn’t leave with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) about to start treatment.
Plus, Trina was excited about her new classes at PCU and would miss Spencer if she left.
Spencer insisted Trina had to do this, so she said maybe he could come with her.
Trina quickly realized Spencer couldn’t leave Ace, but Spencer argued that Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) was his brother’s primary caregiver.
Spencer said he could come back on the weekends for visits and decided that he’d indeed go with Trina to Paris.
After lovemaking, Spencer said they could still make it to the pier for fireworks if they hurried.
At Pentonville, Esme Prince visited Heather Webber (Alley Mills), who could tell something was different and quickly figured out Esme had remembered everything.
Esme admitted it was nice to be able to talk to somebody about it, so Heather urged her to pour her heart out.
After Esme talked about being two different people – the one who did horrible things and the mom who loved her son more than anything – she didn’t know how she could be both.
Heather insisted everything would be all right because Esme came to see her mother.
Once Heather confirmed no one else knew Esme had her memories back, Heather warned her to keep it that way.
Esme confessed that the new Esme felt bad for how she behaved in the past, but she felt her actions were justified now that she remembered.
Heather insisted Esme should keep pretending she’s sorry and tell everyone what they wanted to hear.
Heather didn’t want Esme to blow her second chance and land in prison, so she urged her to keep up the charade.
After urging Esme to forget about Spencer and Trina, she suggested Esme could meet someone worthy of her.
Heather vowed to help Esme keep her head on straight and touched hands with her tenderly.
After Heather said it was a pleasure to finally meet all of her daughter, Esme shared a special moment with her.
At Crimson, Nina Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) had some work to finish up before she joined Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) at the New Year’s Eve bash.
That gave Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) an opportunity to stop by Nina’s office and reveal that he was the one in the confessional at the church.
Nina was appalled and wondered what Cyrus wanted, but he insisted he just wanted to help her and said she had to set herself free.
After Cyrus recapped what Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) went through in prison, he suggested Nina could undo the hurt and give clarity to Sonny, Drew and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).
Nina realized Cyrus would out her as the SEC snitch if she didn’t come clean, so she resolved to tell Sonny herself.
Cyrus was pleased over Nina’s decision, but he made it clear that he’d be watching to make sure she followed through.
At The Savoy, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) told Carly that Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) was stuck covering for people at GH.
Since Drew’s trip got extended, Michael was sorry about Carly spending New Year’s Eve without him.
Once Carly saw Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth), she harassed him about being the SEC rat.
That led to Ned and Carly having a major argument as Lois Quartermaine (Rena Sofer) watched with Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) nearby.
Sonny joined the faceoff and suggested Ned had done enough damage. Michael pointed out it was best not to cause a scene, but Sonny warned Ned that this wasn’t over before stomping off.
Afterward, Ned acted like he might have to work out a better deal with Michael, who refused and stood by the agreement they already had.
Michael suggested he just needed a heads-up so he could tell Willow if Ned was going to blab. Ned tried to call Michael’s bluff, but Michael said to try him.
Back with Lois, she was frustrated over Ned getting blamed for something he didn’t do. Lois didn’t understand how stirring up more Quartermaine and Corinthos conflict was helping the family.
Olivia kept pushing Lois to leave it alone, but Lois put the puzzle pieces together and determined that Nina must be the one who tipped off the SEC.
Lois couldn’t believe no one had told Sonny, but Olivia said it’d ruin Sonny’s happiness and blow Carly’s truce with Nina. Drew was out of prison now, so Olivia didn’t think it’d do any good to tell the truth.
As Ned and Olivia headed down to the docks for the fireworks, Lois stayed behind under the guise of powdering her nose.
That gave Lois a chance to corner Sonny, who was perplexed as she said he had a right to know what was going on. Lois hinted that Sonny’s family had been lying to him as he awaited answers.
On the pier, Spencer watched the fireworks with Trina and said he’d follow her anywhere.
In the distance behind Trina and Spencer, Esme glared at them and made a fist in anger.
In Carly’s kitchen, she heard a party horn from outside just before Drew surprised her.
Carly was thrilled over Drew’s early homecoming, so they shared a kiss before heading to the bedroom and making love during the fireworks.
General Hospital spoilers say Drew will support Carly as tragedy strikes soon, so stick with us for updates on the awful news ahead.
