General Hospital Recap: Friday, February 17 – Esme Panics Spencer - Ryan’s Fatal Warning – Anna’s Ghost Call

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, February 17, reveals that Maggie Fitzgerald (Heather Olt) told Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) that Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) must be behind the latest killings, not Esme Prince (Avery Pohl).

Maggie explained that when Esme was given to the nuns, she was swaddled in a baby blanket with a four-leaf clover broach.

Once Esme became obsessed with finding out who her biological parents were, Maggie helped her trace that broach to Ryan’s first victim.

Dante thought it was a stretch to think that made Ryan her father, but Maggie said that Esme was convinced – though she didn’t have answers about Esme’s mother.

At Wyndemere, Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) was delighted to get two for the price of one as he held Mac Scorpio’s (John J. York) gun on Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner).

Ava thought back to all the times she suspected Ryan was faking his locked-in syndrome and taunted him.

Now Ryan had trapped himself on Spoon Island with them, so Felicia and Ava acted like he was losing his touch.

Ryan doubted anyone was coming to save Ava since Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) wouldn’t be much of a challenge and Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) was dead.

Ava warned against mentioning Kiki’s name before Ryan asked when they could expect Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) home.

Ryan eventually assumed things didn’t work out in Ava’s marriage before taunting Felicia about the fact that he was using Mac’s gun.

Although Ryan acted like he killed Mac, Felicia didn’t want to believe it.

On the side of the road, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) found Mac before he regained consciousness.

Laura Collins (Genie Francis) showed up as Mac confirmed that Esme and Heather Webber (Alley Mills) were the two fugitives missing from Spring Ridge.

Mac talked about finding Heather and Esme before someone knocked him out from behind. However, Mac didn’t see his attacker, who stole his gun and car.

Laura wondered if there was a third inmate involved and was confused about Heather saddling herself with very pregnant Esme on her escape plot.

In hiding, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) waited to hear back from his contact so they could make their next move in gaslighting Deputy Mayor Eileen Ashby (Heather Mazur).

When Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) summoned Eileen, he made it clear that she would continue to work for him and questioned why she’d lost her nerve.

Eileen flashed back to Anna’s “you’re next” message over her car’s sound system and remained on edge, but Victor ordered her to smooth things over with Laura and keep delivering news.

At GH, Mac got examined on Jordan’s orders. Laura also talked to the warden about a guard that had gone missing from Spring Ridge.

Once Eileen appeared, she apologized for overstepping while Laura was out of town and got updates on the latest fugitive chaos.

Laura sent Eileen to deal with reporters, but she didn’t want any names leaked.

At the Metro Court bar, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) told Victor that Nikolas had left town according to Ava.

Victor ultimately got a call from Eileen about Esme’s escape, so he told Spencer about the getaway and considered the possibility that Nikolas arranged it.

Spencer worried that Esme might be faking her amnesia and could still want revenge.

While Spencer took off to warn Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), Victor made another call since he wanted Nikolas found.

As for Eileen, she called the warden for the latest info. That gave Anna a chance to make her next move, which involved intercepting the call with another “you’re next” message.

Anna insisted her blood was on Eileen’s hands and freaked her out.

Once Anna hung up, Valentin admitted he thought that ghost charade was hot and pulled her into a kiss.

Since Felicia was even later than they expected, Valentin and Anna grew concerned about what might’ve happened.

In a Metro Court suite, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) and Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews) pushed Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) for answers.

Trina revealed that she might not be Taggert’s daughter, so Portia confessed she wasn’t sure who Trina’s father was.

Since Trina couldn’t listen to the story again, she took off in despair. Taggert caught up with Trina in the parking garage and suggested he’d always be her father no matter what.

Trina asked how Taggert could forgive Portia for cheating on him, so he acknowledged his own mistakes in their marriage.

Taggert didn’t want to lose Portia and wanted to be a family with her once he learned Trina was on the way.

After Trina warned that she’d never forgive Portia for her lies, Spencer interrupted with important news and whisked her away.

Back in the suite, Portia argued that Curtis hated her when he ended things between them.

Since Curtis walked out of her life, Portia made decisions that she thought would give Trina a happy home.

Curtis was upset over Portia trying to justify her deception, but she said she was trying to help him understand where her head was at.

Even putting aside Portia’s lies from 20 years ago, Curtis was upset over her staying silent more recently.

Portia’s relationship with Taggert was over, so Curtis acted like she had plenty of time to come forward.

Nevertheless, Portia didn’t want to make things worse when Trina thought Taggert was dead.

Once Taggert returned, Portia didn’t want to blow up their bond or risk ruining her relationship with Curtis.

As Portia cried, Curtis asked what kind of life they could have with this lie hanging between them.

Back at GH, Jordan spoke to Dante over the phone about Esme and Heather’s escape. When Dante revealed Ryan was Esme’s father, Jordan was floored.

Laura was brought up to speed just before they learned more news from Spring Ridge.

An initial sweep led to the guard being confused for Ryan, but now they knew Ryan had escaped following the guard’s death.

Next, Jordan and Laura joined Mac in his hospital room so they could discuss all the chaos.

Since Mac had been trying to call Felicia, Ryan eventually got on the phone with him and offered a warning.

After revealing that Felicia was his insurance policy, Ryan warned that she’d die if he saw any cops.

Mac feared the worst after Ryan hung up and admitted he thought Ryan was past his Felicia obsession since he’d moved onto Ava.

That gave Laura an idea of where Ryan might be now.

At Wyndemere again, Ryan decided there wouldn’t be enough room on the boat for both Ava and Felicia.

That meant one of them was coming with Ryan and the other wouldn’t leave that room, so Ryan asked who was ready to say goodbye.

Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) overheard Ryan outside the door and got his phone out to call for help, but “The Hook” entered and attacked him before he could.
