General Hospital Recap: Monday, August 14 – Security Footage Proves Valentin Lied – Sonny’s Flash Drive Trap for Betty

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, August 14, reveals that “Eddie Maine” aka Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) seemed annoyed over Sonny Corinthos  (Maurice Benard) conducting mob business over the phone, so he said he needed space and bolted from the penthouse.

Next, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) arrived and listened to Sonny’s meeting with Betty Rutherford (Ella Lentini) out of sight.

Sonny played up how much Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) liked her new nanny before asking Betty to stay with her until 5:00 p.m. at the penthouse after day camp.

Once Betty cheerfully agreed and left, Sonny gave Dex updates on his plan. Thanks to Brick (Stephen A. Smith), Sonny had a flash drive filled with phony Pikeman info.

Since Betty wouldn’t be able to resist searching the penthouse, Sonny felt certain that she’d find the flash drive and pass it along to her boss.

The tracking software would help Sonny follow the trail to expose this boss and take care of their posse.

At the Metro Court pool, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) met up with Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), who was trying to stay busy with work and distract herself from the fact that her husband was gone.

Olivia was pessimistic about the real Ned’s return before Dante received a call about the fire at Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) house and had to leave.

Soon after, “Eddie” joined Olivia and got her gratitude for defending her at the bar.

After Olivia said she understood “Eddie” couldn’t be Ned, she also reiterated that she could never have “Eddie” committed – and her word was as good as gold.

In Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) kitchen, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) apologized profusely for having her phone turned off and leaving her mom at the PCPD all night.

Carly was irritated at first, but she ultimately admitted it wasn’t Joss’ fault and that Sonny actually offered to sign her out.

Josslyn was confused over why Carly turned down Sonny’s help, especially when she supported Dex reporting to Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and assisting with his business.

Carly didn’t think that was the same thing and talked about the importance of keeping Sonny in power.

Although Josslyn seemed worried about Carly not being able to move forward, Carly insisted she’d always be connected to Sonny since he was family.

When Sonny stopped by later to drop off Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears), he questioned why Carly didn’t just let him sign her out last night.

When Carly stood by her decision, Sonny accepted that she didn’t want his help and hinted about having a lot going on anyway.

In the charred remains of Anna’s house, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) wished he hadn’t left for ELQ and that he’d been there for her when the fire happened.

Anna reassured Valentin and wondered whether the person who set the fire thought she was asleep or waited until she was gone.

Valentin felt that Anna didn’t deserve this revenge plot, which left her thinking about when he previously targeted her.

However, Valentin pointed out that was before he knew Alex Marick (Finola Hughes) was the real source of his pain.

Once Dante showed up, Anna insisted on going down to the station with him alone to give her statement.

In the PCPD interrogation room, Dante gave Anna confirmation that the evidence pointed to arson.

When Anna admitted she didn’t see Valentin again until this morning after his ELQ emergency, Dante grew suspicious. That led to Dante privately phoning someone to pull up the security footage of Valentin’s car.

Once Dante reconvened with Anna, she suggested the fire seemed too sloppy for the WSB.

Dante countered that maybe someone wanted to make it seem sloppy instead and hinted about the logistics of all this.

The word “logistics” brought a lightbulb moment for Anna before she headed out.

Back with Dante, he got a phone call and learned Valentin’s vehicle wasn’t on the footage from the ELQ parking lot.

At GH, Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) showed up to see Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) since he was still seeing double and needed a painkiller for his headache.

Betty eventually arrived and mentioned that she’d be able to search Sonny’s penthouse soon, so Mason was pleased.

Austin just wanted to be done with all this, but Mason made it clear that his cousin would have to keep following orders.

After Betty exited, Austin asked Mason why the boss wanted information on Sonny’s dealings with Pikeman, but Mason didn’t know.

Nevertheless, Mason insisted “he” – meaning the male boss – would get what he wanted.

Back with Dex, he did what Sonny told him to do and followed Betty as she left GH.

General Hospital spoilers say Dex will land in some trouble thanks to his Betty assignment, so stay tuned for news on all the drama.
