General Hospital Recap: Monday, July 3 – New Meds Doom Sasha – Cyrus’ Life-Saving Gift for Drew

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, July 3, reveals that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) visited Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) place and set the record straight. Sam didn’t blame Carly for Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) prison predicament and knew Carly had only ever wanted to help.

Since Drew was determined to protect Carly, Sam also acknowledged the love between them and offered her support.

After Sam accidentally knocked Carly’s SEC info off the counter, she wondered if Carly wanted to talk about how much she’d lost.

Carly opened up about losing Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), her half of the Metro Court and the $5 million she had to pay now.

However, Carly was adamant about rising from the ashes again and eventually hinted that Sam had given her an idea.

Since Drew had already said goodbye to Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante) offscreen, he stopped by Sonny’s penthouse before he was set to report to Pentonville.

After Drew handed over “Eddie Maine” aka Ned Quartermaine’s (Wally Kurth) favorite guitar in hopes it might jog his memory, Sonny thanked Drew for protecting him as well as Carly.

Although Sonny had guys in Pentonville who would look out for Drew, he still warned Drew to keep his eyes open and chin up.

At the police station, Mac Scorpio (John J. York) sat at Jordan Ashford’s (Tanisha Harper) old desk since he was the interim commissioner until a permanent replacement could be named.

Mac gave Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) updates on Cody Bell’s (Josh Kelly) case since the charges had been dropped.

Dante heard a waiter’s new story about finding the bracelet and putting it in a nearby jacket pocket, which turned out to be Cody’s.

When the topic of Mac almost being Cody’s father came up, Dante flashed back to his knowledge that Cody lied about the DNA results.

Mac eventually decided he’d go with Dante to deliver the latest news to Cody in person, so they headed for the Metro Court pool.

That’s where Cody was already lounging and talking to Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner), who pressured him to sign the affidavit regarding his paternity so that the Ice Princess necklace lawsuit could proceed.

Cody was on edge over the WSB doing their own investigation, but Scott acted like the affidavit and birth certificate would be enough proof – unless they decided to dig up Leopold Taub’s (Charles Lucia) body for confirmation.

Scott thought they could get more money for the emotional distress that would cause and suggested they should push for an exhumation, but Cody didn’t want that.

Right as Mac and Dante appeared, Cody signed the affidavit and learned the jewelers had dropped the charges against him.

Dante spoke with Scott alone since he was suspicious after seeing him plotting with Cody, but Scott downplayed it as nothing to worry about.

Meanwhile, Mac apologized to Cody and suggested he shouldn’t be too trusting when it comes to Scott – though he didn’t put him in the same league as Selina Wu (Lydia Look).

After Cody expressed appreciation for the way Mac looked out for him, Mac hoped Cody could consider him a friend instead of a cop.

Once Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) found out from the jewelers that Cody was in the clear, she got Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) to admit she was wrong.

Sasha was irritated over Gladys not telling her about the latest case developments, but Gladys acted like she planned to do it after Sasha’s appointment.

In Dr. Damon Montague’s (Darin Toonder) office, Sasha sang her own praises about how well she was coping, but the doctor pushed her to open up about her anxiety, too.

After Sasha did, Dr. Montague suggested she should start meditating and handed over a prescription bottle of what he claimed was a mild sedative.

Sasha seemed concerned about whether this was safe to take with her antidepressant and asked if the new pills were habit-forming.

Dr. Montague assured Sasha that everything would be fine unless she didn’t feel she could control her intake, but Sasha hastily insisted she was indeed in control.

In Willow Corinthos’ (Katelyn MacMullen) room at GH, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) was by her side as TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) delivered positive test results.

Willow’s transplant was a success, so she could go home in a few hours – though she’d still have to take plenty of precautions due to her compromised immune system.

Michael was concerned, but TJ pointed out that Willow would still be isolated and would only receive visits from a small group of people – a bubble she created.

In private, Willow admitted to Michael that she’d like to include Nina in that bubble.

Back at Sonny’s place, Gladys came over to complain about Sasha ending her guardianship too soon, but he angrily ordered her to give it up.

Afterward, Dr. Montague called Gladys and revealed that he’d given Sasha the new prescription like they’d talked about.

Now it was just a matter of time – unless Gladys wanted Dr. Montague to make an excuse to undo this.

Gladys felt it was the only move she had left, so she wanted to stick to the plan.

At Pentonville, Drew handed over all his personal items before being fingerprinted. Once Drew put on his orange jumpsuit, his photo was taken and he was led to his cell.

When Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) appeared outside the bars, he said he was a brother in Christ and invited Drew to join his group that meets twice a week in the library.

Cyrus called himself “Brother Cy,” so Drew eventually realized he was Laura Collins’ (Genie Francis) twisted brother and rattled off a list of Cyrus’ crimes.

Drew didn’t want to be approached again, but Cyrus pressured him to take the Bible he was offering.

After Drew finally did, he found a shiv inside since the book had been hollowed out.

General Hospital spoilers say Drew will inevitably have some other interesting encounters in prison, so stay tuned.
