General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, February 9, reveals that Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) hinted about complications before Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) arrived in Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) room.
Willow, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) all learned that the doctors weren’t able to harvest enough functional stem cells, so the cord transplant was no longer an option.
That meant Willow had to go back to waiting for a bone marrow donor from the registry, so Willow wondered how much time she had left.
Terry acknowledged that it was different for every patient, but it was likely a matter of weeks.
Willow pushed for alone time, so Carly and Michael reluctantly left her on her own.
As Willow cried, she flashed back to romantic moments with Michael and sweet ones with her children.
Once Michael returned, Willow insisted it was time to have a long overdue conversation about his life without her.
Meanwhile, Austin mentioned palliative care to Terry, but she felt they could talk to Willow and Michael about that later.
Elsewhere at GH, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) insisted Willow had a big heart and thought she’d come around on letting Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) in her life.
Nina vowed that even if Willow didn’t accept her, she’d die trying.
Nina also expressed hope that Sonny could reconnect with Michael, but Sonny wasn’t holding his breath. Soon after, Sonny arranged for Donna Corinthos to come and look at her new niece through the window.
Donna learned Amelia Corinthos (Nathan and Owen Ford) was also Sonny and Nina’s granddaughter, so she excitedly declared that they were all a family.
After Carly left Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) a voicemail asking him to call her back, she crossed paths with Donna and Sonny.
Since Donna could tell something was wrong, Carly admitted she got some bad news.
Although Carly couldn’t say much in front of Donna, she helped Sonny understand that Willow couldn’t have the transplant after all – and she was running out of time. Nina was crushed when Sonny filled her in moments later.
At The Invader, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) urged Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) to leave his position at PCU and accept her journalist offer.
Gregory didn’t want to give up teaching or his retirement benefits, so Alexis convinced him he could do both jobs.
Back at GH, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) assured Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) that she cared for Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) since Liz mattered to Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner).
Liesl had certain skills to help Liz if she was in over her head, so she pushed Finn to tell her what was going on.
Finn naturally seemed wary of spilling too much to a wildcard like Obrecht.
At Liz’s house, Scott agreed to be her lawyer and promised everything she said would be protected.
Elizabeth admitted to entering a crime in progress a few months ago, but she added that it was no longer ongoing.
After Liz acknowledged that it was bad, Scott learned a few other people knew and asked who else was involved.
Ava Jerome (Maura West) suddenly arrived seeking a private conversation with Elizabeth, so Scott said he’d finish his own discussion with Liz later.
Once Ava was alone with Liz, she revealed that Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) told her everything.
Since Ava claimed to believe Nik had left Port Charles, she felt Liz would be the only one who paid if she turned herself in.
Ava argued that with Nikolas’ resources, he could disappear forever.
Liz didn’t understand why Ava cared so much and didn’t think she should be absolved of guilt.
However, Ava warned that Liz shouldn’t ruin her life over Nikolas’ bad decisions, especially since it could affect Liz’s children.
With all that in mind, Ava urged Elizabeth to just let Nikolas go and let his crimes go with him. When Finn showed up, Ava thanked Elizabeth for hearing her out and took off.
That left Finn wondering what Ava’s visit was about, so Liz said Ava stopped by to say Nikolas left town.
Back with Ava, she called Austin and told them they needed to meet right away. Austin asked what was wrong, so Ava admitted they had a huge problem.
At the hospital again, Liesl quizzed Scott about what Liz wanted, but he didn’t offer any details.
Once Obrecht got updates on Willow’s setback, she hated to see Nina suffering like this.
Liesl was powerless to help Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), but she hoped there was something she could do for Willow.
That’s why Liesl approached Terry and pushed to be tested as a potential bone marrow donor.
General Hospital spoilers say Obrecht could be the hero Willow needs, so stay tuned!
