General Hospital Recap: Tuesday, May 16 – Gladys Must Betray Sonny or Pay Up – Robert Spies Holly’s Shady Alliance

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, May 16, reveals that Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) struggled to focus on her on-air presentation due to the baby crying in her earpiece. The producer demanded that the noise be cranked up, but Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) could tell something was wrong.

Fortunately, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) showed up and realized what was happening, so he threatened to start streaking and began stripping his clothes off behind the scenes.

Since that could’ve led to a major fine for the network, the producer backed off and ordered the sound cut immediately.

Sasha got through the rest of the Decepter wand presentation beautifully and told Haven de Havilland (Morgan Fairchild) that she’d be hearing from her lawyers.

After Sasha explained the crying baby sound effect to Brook Lynn and Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring), Flora Gardens (Susan Batten) also heard the news and ripped into Haven for her rotten scheme.

That led to Flora quitting, which was a big deal since she was Home and Heart’s number one seller.

Back with Sasha, she took a call from a customer who insisted on speaking with her after the presentation was over.

The woman on the other end of the line talked about Sasha losing both her baby and her husband, but Sasha was able to discuss overcoming her tragedy without falling apart.

When Brook Lynn saw Cody nearby, she ran after him and acknowledged that he was behind the sound effect stopping.

Brook Lynn asked if Cody wanted to join Deception’s celebration, but he declined – though he said to make sure Sasha had fun since she deserved it.

After Lucy barked threats, she managed to score five more Deception in primetime and made it a condition that Sasha would do the presentations.

Back with Cody, he confronted Haven on set and warned that if she ever pulled a stunt like that against his friend again, her sales would be the least of her problems.

Haven asked if Cody was threatening her, so he confirmed he was and added that she didn’t want to see him make good on his threats.

At Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) place, she realized Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) was picking a fight with her because something else was on his mind. Robert came clean about his love triangle drama, so Anna talked him through it.

After Robert mentioned Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) feeling like home, he suggested they knew each other inside and out.

Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) challenged Robert and was likeminded when it came to upholding the law – unlike Holly, who viewed the law as an obstacle.

Once Robert left, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) for some passionate moments on the sofa with Anna.

At The Savoy, Holly met up with Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) while Diane talked to Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) about her ultimatum for Robert, which meant she wouldn’t compete for his attention.

Holly eventually decided to get to know Diane a bit better, so she wound up speaking to her alone while Felicia and Alexis headed over to the bar.

Diane suggested laying their cards on the table, so Holly apologized for kissing Robert in front of Diane since they had no idea she’d be arriving.

After Diane said no apology was necessary since she was still in the “nascent stage” with Robert, she warned she wouldn’t go to war over him.

Holly acknowledged that she’d been dancing around a romance with Robert for decades and felt it would work out this time since there were no more obstacles.

Nevertheless, Diane thought Holly and Robert were from different worlds and asked if the universe had really been working overtime to keep them apart.

Instead, Diane hinted that maybe things weren’t working out between Holly and Robert because they couldn’t and probably never would.

Over with Felicia, she mentioned looking for a new protect to get excited about – kind of like Alexis had found through her work at The Invader.

Alexis admitted The Invader wasn’t everything she wanted it to be and said her dream for it hadn’t entirely come true. Felicia gave Alexis a pep talk before they admitted they’d given each other a lot to think about.

Meanwhile, Selina Wu (Lydia Look) stepped into a private area with Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) to discuss an alternate repayment plan.

After Selina talked about Gladys’ other assets and connections, she acted like Gladys was privy to certain business dealings that could prove useful.

Gladys realized Selina was talking about Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) business, but she insisted she wasn’t that close to him and knew nothing about it.

Selina argued that Gladys might know more than she thought, but Gladys warned that they’d be inviting trouble that neither of them wanted!

Since Selina was out of patience, she gave Gladys until noon tomorrow to repay her debt. If Gladys couldn’t pay, Selina insisted that maybe Sasha would.

Afterward, Gladys eavesdropped on Sasha’s conversation with Brook Lynn and Lucy, which involved Sasha being ready to let Gladys off the hook when it came to the guardianship.

Sasha was prepared to take the reins again when it came to her finances and life.

Back with Selina, she approached Holly and suggested maybe they could partner up again since their last venture proved fruitful to them both.

Holly said it certainly did as a suspicious Robert watched their interaction nearby.

At Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) place, she let Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) in after inviting her over to finish whatever she had to say.

Nina admitted she’d been acting from a place of fear and said it was easier to hate Carly than accept the consequences of her own actions.

Although Nina knew it was late to be understanding all this, she said she was so sorry.

“Is that it?” Carly asked while looking annoyed on Tuesday’s GH episode.

Nina became upset over Carly not even acknowledging her apology, but she confessed that she was glad Carly had been a mother to Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) when Nina couldn’t be.

Carly finally relented on helping with Willow, so Nina suggested setting up a phone call and seeing if that went well.

That led to Carly clarifying that she only meant she’d support Willow if she let Nina in.

Carly wouldn’t stand in the way, but she also wouldn’t advocate for Nina if Willow shut her out.

Nina said she should’ve known that Carly wouldn’t help and acted like she shouldn’t have listened to Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) advice. After Nina called her a hypocrite, Carly admitted maybe she was.

Nevertheless, Carly felt that she was right and that if Nina wanted to be a mother, she had to do it on Willow’s terms.

“And to think I felt guilty,” Nina muttered, which led to Carly wondering what she meant.

Nina covered by acting like she previously felt guilty about blaming Carly for the estrangement and wished Carly luck with the SEC under her breath as she stormed out.

General Hospital spoilers say there’s more Nina and Carly conflict to come, so stay tuned for updates on their feud.
