General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, May 23, reveals that Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) saw Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) at the boxing gym and tried to be nice, but Spencer was nothing but rude in return.
Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) caught Spencer giving Dex a hard time before she joined the conversation and was cordial to Dex before he excused himself.
Although Spencer thought Dex and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) were complete opposites who wouldn’t create a lasting romance, Trina reminded him that the heart wants what it wants and gave him a kiss.
Once Josslyn joined Spencer and Trina, she expressed how happy she was that they made it home safely from Greenland.
After Spencer headed to the steam room, Josslyn told Trina that she’d been fighting with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) about Dex – though she didn’t provide all the details.
Trina understood what it was like to go up against people with doubts about your relationship, but she acted like Josslyn and Dex’s opinions were the only ones that mattered.
In the steam room, Dex fantasized about Josslyn stripping down with him before Spencer appeared.
That brought another rude encounter since Spencer felt he knew Josslyn far better than Dex ever could.
After Spencer rattled off a list of things he knew from Josslyn’s childhood, Dex suggested Spencer knew nothing about Joss in the present.
As the argument got heated, Spencer threw a punch at Dex.
Once Dex met up with Josslyn and Trina, he didn’t mention anything about fighting with Spencer. Josslyn and Dex left before Spencer appeared with a wound on his face.
When Trina pushed for the scoop, she found out Spencer threw a punch that Dex blocked.
Dex defended himself with a punch of his own and walked away, so Trina was upset over Spencer once again causing problems.
Spencer insisted that he’d tried to be nice to Dex, but he felt it was just impossible.
At the Metro Court, Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) suggested Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) had to decide if he was willing to forgive Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and accept her exactly as she was.
Chase realized he needed to fix this and recruited Finn to help him with winning Brook Lynn back.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Brook Lynn wrote a bleak song before she overheard Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) on a phone call trying to figure out who actually tipped off the SEC.
Brook Lynn determined that the person who went after Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) could’ve been an enemy of both – or they could’ve been an enemy of just one or the other.
After Brook Lynn found out about Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) meddling with Chase, she ripped into her for making a mess of things.
However, Tracy’s reverse psychology plan paid off when Brook Lynn heard one of her songs coming from outside.
Finn held up a boom box as Chase sang and privately asked forgiveness once the song was over.
Brook Lynn felt there was nothing to forgive and owned up to her part in their relationship issues, but Chase felt they were better together and sealed it with a kiss.
Back at the Metro Court, Carly ran into Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) and was upset to learn Olivia hadn’t kicked Ned out over the SEC tip.
Olivia argued that Carly wasn’t entirely innocent and added that she’d worked too hard on her marriage to throw it away because Ned told the truth.
Carly decided they shouldn’t talk about this anymore, so Olivia awkwardly touched her on the shoulder and tried to manage a friendly moment before she left.
At Crimson, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) turned down Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) marriage offer since she didn’t want a pity proposal.
Sonny proved he’d been thinking about this for a while now by pulling out a gorgeous engagement ring.
Nina was moved over the gesture, but she closed the box and stood by her decision to decline the proposal. Sonny kept at it and gave a beautiful speech about how he wanted to fight alongside Nina.
After Sonny asked Nina to be his partner for life, he said he couldn’t imagine his life without her.
Sonny dropped to one knee and asked Nina to marry him once more, so she admired the way he never gave up on what he wanted.
Still, Nina worried that one day Sonny would realize she was more trouble than she was worth.
Sonny felt he knew exactly who Nina was and said his eyes were wide open, so he finally sold her on the idea of tying the knot.
Nina agreed to marry Sonny and accepted the ring on Tuesday’s GH episode, so they decided to celebrate with a candlelit dinner and Champagne.
Olivia was outside the elevator doors when they opened to reveal Sonny and Nina making out.
After an uncomfortable interaction, Nina and Sonny got Trish (Trish Ramish) to pop open some Champagne.
Trish wondered what they were celebrating, so Nina admitted she was engaged to Sonny.
Carly overheard the news nearby, so she was stunned and visibly irritated over Nina’s impending marriage updates.
General Hospital spoilers say Nina and Sonny’s engagement will continue to make waves, so stick with the ABC soap.
