General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, March 8, reveals that Cameron Webber (William Lipton) worried Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) was sleepwalking again when he found her on the sofa, but she admitted she’d been waiting up for him.
Cameron had good news since he got the scholarship he applied for at Stanford, where he would join the soccer team.
They wanted Cam there for the spring quarter so he could work out and play in the fall.
Elizabeth ultimately admitted the reason she was waiting up and confessed to helping Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) hold Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) captive at Wyndemere.
Cameron reeled over all the details, but Liz hoped he could forgive her.
Although Cam said he needed some time alone to process everything, he assured Elizabeth of his love and knew it must’ve taken a lot of guts to confess to the police.
Cameron thought Liz was a good person, so she felt lucky to have a son like him who believed in her.
At GH, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) filled Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) in on Nikolas holding Esme hostage.
Trina also found out Esme worked with Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) and manipulated Spencer from the very beginning of their relationship.
Over with Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), she pushed Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) to talk to her, but he refused to divulge details about his conversation with Trina.
Portia wanted Curtis to come home from the hotel, but he only agreed to think about it.
Afterward, Portia met up with Trina, who said she talked to Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews) and couldn’t believe he wasn’t more upset about all this.
Portia was apologetic and tried to ask about an art slide show presentation that Trina had been working on.
When Trina insisted she wasn’t there yet, Portia backed off – though she missed Trina and wanted to hear about her life.
Trina offered a “we’ll see” on the future and admitted to Portia that she missed her, too.
In Esme’s room at GH, she didn’t want to hear anything Laura Collins (Genie Francis) had to say since her son held Esme captive.
Esme ranted about all the Cassadines, but Laura insisted she wasn’t one of them and played up her role as a concerned grandmother.
After Esme confessed that Laura had been good to her, she said she couldn’t have gotten through the birth without her.
Laura reflected on being about Esme’s age when she had her first baby, which led to her feeling trapped and surrounded by enemies, too.
Once Laura said she was separated from her son for many years, Esme feared that’s what would happen to her as well and said Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) should be with his mom.
Laura questioned if prison was the best place for a baby, but an officer arrived and revealed that arrangements had been made for Esme’s transfer to Spring Ridge tonight.
When Esme learned Ace would be going with her, she was relieved.
Spencer, on the other hand, fumed after he got updates from Laura.
Although Laura held out hope for an amicable solution, Spencer insisted Esme wanted a fight – and that’s what she would get once Spencer took this to court.
Back in Esme’s room, she was reunited with Ace and expressed gratitude for Portia’s kindness, especially since she knew she’d done horrible things to Trina. Portia said she was just doing her job.
As Esme sat down on the bed with Ace, she promised to protect him with her life.
Trina had brought a baby blanket as a gift, so Spencer tried to give it to Esme since he thought Ace would be cold on the way to the van.
Esme tried to turn it down, but Laura convinced her to take it anyway.
Once Esme and Ace got on the elevator, Spencer insisted his baby brother wouldn’t be in prison for long and vowed to get him away from that lunatic.
At the Metro Court, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) could tell Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) was glum as she tried to eat her meal, so Victor urged her to tell him off since she enjoyed it.
Liesl just wanted to be left alone, but Victor let her know he was sorry about Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) death.
Since Victor wasn’t on good terms with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) following his presumed demise, he thought it was a blessing that Liesl had a good relationship with her children before they died.
Victor was delighted to hear that Liesl had a falling out with Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and quizzed her until she snapped at him.
That left Victor equally delighted to see Liesl’s feisty side, so he reached for her hand and hinted about keeping each other company.
Liesl hadn’t forgotten what Victor did to her, so she warned that he’d never touch her again and said she’d rather be alone.
After Deputy Mayor Eileen Ashby (Heather Mazur) was taken to the safe house, her blindfold was removed.
Eileen was surprised to see that Valentin was alive just like Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and hoped Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) survived, too.
Valentin insisted Eileen was there to give them answers, so she talked about being ordered to keep tabs on Laura and undermine her.
Eileen made it clear that she worked for Victor and wasn’t his partner.
The deputy mayor admitted to knowing Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) shot Lucy and said Victor loved the idea of using her against Anna and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers).
When asked just how personal their relationship was, Eileen revealed that Victor confided things when they were in bed together.
However, Victor had been acting distant since the explosion that destroyed the necklace he wanted.
Eileen said the necklace was supposed to lead Victor to some place that he was looking for, but now he was back to square one.
Anna wanted Eileen to get close to Victor again and told her to listen carefully about how to do that.
Later, Eileen found Victor at the Metro Court and apologized for their quarrel.
After Eileen suggested making up, she turned Victor’s attention to the room key card on the table.
Back with Anna and Valentin, they realized the diamond codes were coordinates to the place Victor desperately wanted to find, so they hoped to figure this out together.
At Marshall Ashford’s (Robert Gossett) genetic screening results appointment, he found out he didn’t have a single gene mutation that would indicate schizophrenia.
Curtis was also there to learn this meant Marshall was no more at risk for schizophrenia than anyone else.
Afterward, Marshall reflected on Portia maybe being right about his misdiagnosis all those years ago. If Marshall was indeed misdiagnosed, he wondered why.
