General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, May 17, reveals that Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) reached out to Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) for help getting a job. Holly wanted to get back in the spy game, so she asked Anna to put in a good word with the WSB.
Anna didn’t have much sway now that the WSB had a new director, but she agreed to reach out to some other connections.
Although Anna was wary of the risks, Holly needed the money to help bail Ethan Lovett (James Ryan) out of the dangerous debt he was in.
Holly didn’t want to drag Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) into a scandal, so that led to talk about Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) and her doubts about whether Holly’s reunion with Robert would work out.
After Holly hinted about taking a less than legal path to help Ethan if necessary, Anna warned her to be careful.
Since Mac Scorpio (John J. York) could tell something was up with Robert, he quizzed Diane and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) at the Metro Court.
However, both Diane and Felicia pushed Mac to seek answers from Robert himself.
At the PCPD, Robert was agitated over the judge’s delay on a warrant to search The Savoy, where he’d witnessed Holly and Selina Wu’s (Lydia Look) shady interaction.
Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) realized Robert was all worked up, so he called Mac over to handle him.
When Mac arrived, he cornered Robert alone to insist that The Savoy was off-limits.
Mac revealed that Selina was under surveillance, so he didn’t want Robert blowing everything he had in place to get the goods on her.
Since the judge refused to sign off on the warrant, Robert said to screw it and marched off to The Savoy anyway.
Back with Felicia, she acknowledged that Diane cared about Robert. Diane argued that Holly was the love of Robert’s life and felt that was the end of the story.
At The Savoy, Selina praised Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) for his heroism and thought it might be rewarded if Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) turned out to be his brave, beautiful daughter.
That said, Selina also acknowledged that maybe that was a complication for Curtis. Ms. Wu offered to make the DNA test result go any way Curtis wanted since she had access to the labs at GH.
Curtis asked why he’d want to compound one lie with another, but Selina acted like Curtis may not want to be tied down now that the WSB was offering opportunities.
When Curtis suggested that Selina just enjoyed having something over him, she pointed out that they were already joined at the hip.
Curtis argued that was only the case for now and warned Selina that he didn’t want those DNA results doctored.
Since Trina had been waiting forever on a DNA test at the hospital, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) threw Portia Robinson’s (Brook Kerr) name around and tried to speed things along.
Trina wound up admitting that Spencer, Esme Prince (Avery Pohl), Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis) looked like a family when they all walked out of there together the other day.
Spencer made it clear that Esme wasn’t family, but Trina still felt for Esme since Ace was all she had in the world.
That gave Spencer the idea to expand Esme’s horizons and make sure she wasn’t focused solely on Ace, which would make it easier for her to relinquish him.
At the Metro Court, Portia sought Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) help getting through to Trina about Spencer, but Ava thought Trina should make her own choices.
If Portia tried painting Spencer in a bad light, Ava warned that it would only make it more difficult for Portia to mend her relationship with Trina. Portia couldn’t stand by and lose Trina, but she wasn’t sure what she was going to do.
Ava also received an envelope via messenger, which she opened to find an invitation to Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) will reading.
After Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) brought Ace’s gift over to Laura’s place, they realized Esme was trying to take off with the baby.
Laura reminded Esme that she had no where to go and no way to support herself.
Esme wanted to gain independence and live life on her own terms, so Alexis had an offer for her if she was serious about that.
Once Alexis pointed out she needed a new receptionist, Esme mulled it over while tending to Ace upstairs.
Laura worried about Alexis since Esme could revert to her old behavior, but Alexis acted like she knew the risks and accepted them.
When Esme returned, she announced that she’d take Alexis up on her job offer. Since The Invader had daycare, Esme was thrilled to know she could take Ace with her and pulled Alexis into an awkward hug.
After Anna got an invitation to the reading of Victor’s will, she called Laura and confirmed that she’d just received one via messenger, too.
At the hospital, Curtis spoke to a doctor about the lab and asked how certain she was that no one could tamper with the results.
Trina seemed a bit suspicious as she walked over, but Curtis downplayed everything.
Later, Portia came along and found Curtis with Trina as well as Spencer. No matter what happened with the DNA test, Curtis assured Trina that she wasn’t alone – and Spencer said he’d make sure of it.
Portia suggested they were all in agreement that Trina always comes first.
Back at The Savoy, Robert confronted Selina and asked about the hold she had on Holly. Since Holly appeared behind Robert, Selina suggested Robert should ask the lady herself and sauntered off.
