General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the show’s latest twist could create quite a ripple effect on canvas. It’s no surprise that Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) is alive, but it was a shock to see him on life support following Mason Gatlin’s (Nathanyael Grey) rescue.
Of course, there are some good reasons why the writers have chosen this route.
It seems like the show wants to put Nikolas on ice – just like they did with Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan), who’s another one of Laura Collins’ (Genie Francis) comatose children.
We can’t forget that Marcus Coloma was fired before Adam Huss was brought in to temporarily replace him in his final GH scenes.
The intention was always to remove Nikolas from the canvas for a while, so it may take some time for this storyline to play out.
That could give the show a chance to search for a more permanent recast option if they want to go in a new direction for Nikolas.
Regardless, the important thing here is that Nikolas survived his brush with death and is now being kept alive by Mason, who’s working for a mysterious boss.
Mason seemingly made a phone call to that boss or at least a go-between on the March 1 episode.
Some viewers speculated that Mason might be working for Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) now as well, but that doesn’t seem to be the case based on the tone he used over the phone.
Mason appeared to know the person on the other end of the line and joked about “sleeping beauty” having everything he needed, so there was a sense of familiarity and an ease about the conversation.
Besides, there’s more drama if Victor finds out about this later and gains an enemy.
This could set the stage for the big reveal of Mason and Austin Gatlin Holt’s (Roger Howarth) boss and lead to her war with Victor eventually.
These two villains could go up against each other in the months ahead once Nikolas is used as leverage.
Victor may get updates on Nikolas’ predicament sooner or later and fight for control of him, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all goes down.
General Hospital spoilers say Nikolas will fight to recover in the meantime, so stay tuned for more news on his condition.
