General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Marcus Taggert (Réal Andrews) clearly isn’t coping well with the news of Trina Robinson’s (Tabyana Ali) true paternity. From where Taggert is standing, it seems like Trina is slipping away.
In GH’s July 19 episode, Trina showed up for breakfast with Taggert, but she admitted she couldn’t stay long since she felt guilty for being away from the hospital.
Taggert is sympathetic to Curtis Ashford’s (Donnell Turner) situation, but it had to sting hearing Trina open up about him.
Trina has been terrified about losing the chance to get to know her bio dad since she cares so much about Curtis and wants to understand her past.
Unfortunately, Trina hasn’t had a lot of time to keep up with her connection to Taggert – and that’s probably not going to change anytime soon.
Taggert did his best to be a good dad and support Trina anyway, but it’s not easy when the show’s shoving him out of the father figure position.
It’s not fair since DNA results can’t erase all the years Taggert spent loving and raising Trina.
Now that Taggert feels such a powerful sense of loss, he’s using booze to soothe the pain.
Taggert went on a bender right after he learned the truth about Trina’s paternity, but it clearly wasn’t a one-time thing.
After Trina left Taggert at Kelly’s recently, he wound up spiking his coffee with something from his flask.
It’s not a good sign that Taggert is drinking as early as breakfast time since he’s setting himself up for drunken outbursts and maybe even something as serious as a harmful accident.
At the very least, Taggert may cost himself the police commissioner position that Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) offered him.
Jordan couldn’t guarantee that her recommendation would stick, but she was certainly willing to mention Taggert’s name and push for him to be her replacement.
Mac Scorpio (John J. York) is filling in temporarily, but the PCPD is going to need someone else to officially take over the commissioner role.
That person might’ve been Taggert if he wasn’t gearing up for an alcoholic storyline that could derail his future.
Now Taggert may botch a final interview or even show up to work drunk if it gets that far.
Taggert’s run as Port Charles’ police commissioner might be short-lived if he shows signs of intoxication when he needs to have a clear head.
General Hospital spoilers say Taggert’s life will get worse before it gets better, so stay tuned for updates on any looming disasters.
