General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) could remember someone surprising when she finally has a breakthrough. Esme has supposedly been living in this amnesia fog, but something – or someone – will help clear it eventually.
Since Esme hasn’t recognized Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) yet, Liz is getting away with her role in the captivity crisis so far.
GH fans will recall how Esme didn’t want Elizabeth to leave and how she insisted that Liz had been so good to her!
Esme feels connected to Liz now, so that could be important as this storyline moves along.
The closest Esme came to recognizing anyone at this point was Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom), who had a trustworthy face and seemed familiar.
Of course, that’s because Kevin’s face is identical to the face of Esme’s father, Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom).
However, it doesn’t look like Esme’s memory will be jogged when Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) pays her a visit either.
Who will finally be the first one Esme recognizes after this whole amnesia ordeal?
There are good reasons to think it might be Cameron Webber (William Lipton), especially now that his breakup from Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is official.
Cam is still in love with Josslyn, so he doesn’t know how he’s supposed to be friends with her in the aftermath of their split.
When Cameron was talking to Spencer in the January 6 episode, it was easy to see how he was already pulling away from the group.
Spencer suggested a meeting about Esme with Josslyn and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), but Cameron said they could just let him know what they talked about afterward.
This breakup could lead to major distance between Cameron and his usual crew.
Once Cameron sees Josslyn moving on with Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), that’s going to make his pain even worse.
Cam may even find out that Josslyn slept with Dex before she dumped him.
This could lead to Cameron having a bit of an edge and perhaps make him want a little revenge. If Cam wants to anger Josslyn, there’d be no better way to do that than by dating Esme!
Regardless, it’d be interesting if Esme remembered Cameron as the start of the amnesia fog lifting. The memory floodgates might open from then on.
Cam genuinely tried to show Esme kindness before she targeted him, so she may recall that and have mercy on his mother.
Maybe Cameron could ask Esme to protect Elizabeth over the captivity chaos and keep quiet about her memory recovery in exchange.
There’s no denying that this amnesia thing gives Esme a better chance at a clean slate.
Cameron might suggest they can help each other – and that could be the start of a classic enemies to lovers story.
Esme and Cam are going to need new love interests, so GH writers may make some updates to the amnesia drama and set the stage for complicated feelings.
Fake dating to get back at Josslyn could potentially lead to genuine blooming love.
A Cameron and Esme pairing could lead to bad news, but General Hospital spoilers hint that they may get involved anyway!
