General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that another former GH star has passed away. Jack Axelrod is dead at 93, so fans are mourning the loss of the actor best known for playing mob boss Victor Jerome on the ABC soap.
Victor was head of the Jerome mob family and the father of Ava Jerome (Maura West) as well as Julian Jerome (William deVry).
Longtime fans may recall Victor’s rivalry with Angus McKay (Guy Doleman) and all the drama that brought to the show.
Axelrod appeared from 1987 to 1989, but he made a memorable mark on GH during that stint.
It was a huge highlight of Axelrod’s career and a character that really showcased his talent.
However, fans might also recognize Axelrod from other roles on shows like Grey’s Anatomy, My Name Is Earl, Modern Family, Ray Donovan, The Office and more.
Axelrod will be remembered for all the great work he did across various genres.
Jennifer Garland was Axelrod’s representative and recently confirmed the news of his demise to EW.
Jack Axelrod passed away of natural causes on November 28 in Los Angeles, so Garland offered updates on the loss.
In addition to being a Korean War vet, Axelrod studied architecture at the University of California, Berkeley.
That’s where Axelrod got into acting – and he eventually gained acclaimed actress Uta Hagen as his mentor.
Axelrod went on to star in various TV shows and films along with some productions on Broadway.
The former GH star even passed his passion for acting on to other generations with teaching stints at multiple universities.
It’s clear that Axelrod accomplished a lot in his 93 years, so he leaves behind a lasting legacy.
It’s always tough to lose an incredible actor, but Jack Axelrod’s memory will certainly live on!
