General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Kelly Thiebaud has wrapped up her time as Britt Westbourne in Port Charles. Now that Britt has suffered a grim fate, her chapter at GH is over – and that means Thiebaud is free to pursue other projects.
In a recent issue of SOD, Kelly Thiebaud opened up about her decision to leave the show and admitted it had been the plan for quite a while.
Thiebaud confessed it was partly a solution to a long-distance relationship since her partner couldn’t move to the United States.
It turns out Thiebaud actually planned to leave sooner, but she stuck around in hopes of playing out Britt and Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) sizzling story together – which obviously didn’t pan out due to Burton’s abrupt departure.
However, Thiebaud was always interested in exploring other opportunities and ultimately decided to move forward with her exit since that would offer her more flexibility.
Of course, that doesn’t mean the door’s closed on soaps forever! Thiebaud pointed out that you can still come back from the dead in the soap world and suggested “who knows what will happen in 10 years…”
It’s possible Thiebaud could still make a return to GH as Britt in some miraculous way – or maybe she could show up as a brand-new character down the road.
Nevertheless, Thiebaud seems pretty determined to move on from Port Charles for now and try new things.
If one of the other soaps hopes to snatch Thiebaud up, their best bet would be to offer a short-term gig or perhaps a recurring role that offers the flexibility she’s looking for.
There would certainly be room for an actress as talented as Thiebaud over on B&B or Y&R, so those are shows to keep in mind.
Thiebaud previously played the role of Zoey Burge on Days before she was recast due to scheduling conflicts, but maybe there’s another option to consider.
Now that Steve Burton is playing Harris Michaels again at DOOL, it’d be great if Thiebaud could play a new love interest and get the chance to explore another version of the onscreen love story she wanted.
Naturally, we should also prepare for the possibility that Thiebaud wants to shift her attention to other projects outside the soap world.
Regardless, fans are grateful for Kelly Thiebaud’s portrayal of Britt – and she’s grateful for the fans as well!
On Twitter, Thiebaud offered some updates and a sweet goodbye message for her supporters.
“Thank u for all the years, all the memories and all the support.I posted a video on my Instagram but it’s too long to post on here.I’m sad to let go of Britt. I had so much fun with this character and getting the opportunity to entertain y’all throughout the last nine years,” Thiebaud tweeted.
