General Hospital Spoilers: Wednesday, February 22 Recap – Ryan Exits in Body Bag – Spencer Meets Baby Brother

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, February 22, reveals that Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) headed for the woods with backup after shots were fired. Detective Bennett (Kendrick Cross) kept Heather Webber (Alley Mills) close and called for paramedics since Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) was in labor.

Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) realized the baby was coming now, so Esme would have to give birth at Wyndemere.

Esme didn’t want Heather there, but Heather protested since she was the baby’s grandmother.

That led to Esme realizing Heather was her bio mom and freaking out. Heather said she’d do anything for her, so Esme snapped about her committing mass murder.

Esme insisted Heather was never meeting this baby and told her to get out.

Once Detective Bennett took Heather to another room, the paramedics arrived to help Kevin.

Esme asked if Laura Collins (Genie Francis) would stay, so Laura snuggled in behind Esme and gave her someone to lean on.

Kevin coached Esme through the delivery until the baby arrived crying, so Esme wondered if her newborn was OK.

On the pier, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) thought it made sense that Esme had known her father was Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) all along.

However, Spencer felt confident that Esme was truly in the dark on who her mother was.

Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) informed Spencer and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) that Heather was also the hook killer, so that bombshell left them reeling.

In the woods, Ava Jerome (Maura West) tried to shoot Ryan and realized the gun was seemingly out of bullets.

Ryan came closer until Ava pushed him away – giving Mac Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) a clear shot at him when he appeared.

Once Ryan went down, Jordan arrived and ultimately confirmed that he was dead.

After Jordan heard about Ava’s shot to Ryan’s shoulder and Mac stopping him with another bullet, she thought it all sounded justified.

Jordan said Ava would need to give her statement, but she wanted her to get checked out at the hospital first.

Mac told Ava the most important thing was that Ryan could take no more victims and that his reign of terror had come to an end.

At GH, Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) was glad Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) was stable as she sat by his bedside.

Austin worried about Ava, but Felicia said Ava survived her hook attack and would survive tonight, too.

Felicia was curious about Austin’s reason for being at Wyndemere and thought it was a little late to do a follow-up after Ava’s hook injuries last year.

Austin mentioned the island must be crawling with cops and secretly seemed concerned about Nikolas Cassadine’s (Adam Huss) body being found.

Once the launch took Ava to the pier, she hugged Trina and admitted Ryan was dead.

Spencer encouraged Trina to go with Ava to the hospital and remained worried about Esme’s precious cargo.

When the cops led Heather off the launch, she revealed to Spencer that Esme was in labor.

Heather also warned that Spencer would’ve been the next hook attack victim if she’d had the chance.

Spencer told Jordan that he needed to be on Spoon Island since he feared for his little sibling.

Soon after, Spencer made it to Wyndemere and met his baby brother as Esme held him.

Esme mentioned that Nikolas told her that he was the real father and knew she’d done a lot of messed up stuff in her old life.

Nevertheless, Esme insisted she wasn’t that person anymore and seemed to adore her new bundle of joy.

As the paramedics wheeled Esme out, she asked Spencer to let Nikolas know about the baby since she didn’t know how to reach him.

Spencer muttered that made two of them as he turned his attention to Laura.

In Portia Robinson’s (Brook Kerr) suite at the Metro Court, Marcus Taggert (Réal Andrews) arrived and wondered if she really thought he’d love Trina any less if he’d found out she wasn’t his.

Although Taggert wished Portia had been honest from the get-go, he made it clear that he was Trina’s dad – “point blank period!”

Nothing would change Taggert’s bond with Trina or the family he’d built with Portia.

Taggert credited Portia with helping Trina forgive him after he faked his death, so he knew she was a good mother who made a terrible mistake.

Sadly, Portia couldn’t help but worry that she might’ve lost Trina forever.

Once Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) took Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) home, Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) arrived to discuss unfinished business related to the criminal confession she wanted to make.

Finn got called to the hospital, so that gave Liz a chance to spill the Esme captivity story to Scott offscreen.

Elizabeth hoped Scott could broker some sort of deal for her, so he asked if she’d lost her mind.

Even so, Liz was hoping Scott could keep her out of prison and seemed satisfied as he vowed to do his best to help her.

Back at GH, Felicia met up with Ava and got updates on Ryan’s death. Once Felicia took off to find Mac, Trina offered to get Nikolas if Ava wanted her to.

Ava said there was nothing Nikolas could do for her anymore and encouraged Trina to head home.

Trina seemed pensive as she acknowledged everything that had come to light today.

Ava tried to score a visit with Austin, but the nurse turned her away since he needed his rest.

That left both Ava and Austin looking nervous about the Nikolas corpse situation they’d left behind.

On Spoon Island again, Mac found Kevin and broke the news of Ryan’s demise. Kevin wanted to see Ryan’s body, so Mac led him to the clearing.

As Kevin got closer, he suggested he could feel that it was real this time.

Kevin opened the body bag to see Ryan’s face, so Felicia arrived and comforted him since Ryan was still his brother.
