General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 18, reveals that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) opened the door in Paris to a woman named Rene (Maria Tornberg), who mostly ignored Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
Rene was a cataphile who was there to help guide them through the catacombs of Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) compound, which were actually mines.
However, Rene couldn’t resist flirting with Valentin nonstop and playing up their history.
Once Rene took off to make arrangements, Valentin downplayed his previous romantic involvement with her.
Anna insisted she wasn’t jealous, but didn’t want to be taken in by Rene – she questioned Rene’s motives and wondered if she could be trusted.
Valentin said there was no time to get someone else’s help finding Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring), so he wondered how Anna wanted to play this.
Elsewhere, Rene paid one of Victor’s guards and told him to ask how much it was worth to his boss to have Anna and Valentin served up skewered.
Once Rene returned to the hotel, Anna got on board with the plan since she was determined to find Lucy ASAP.
At Kelly’s, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) read an article on his phone about Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) being remanded to Spring Ridge until her trial.
Ava Jerome (Maura West) showed up after being summoned since Spencer’s news stirred up her curiosity.
After Ava mentioned making Wyndemere the grand prize in her divorce from Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), Spencer said he was more concerned about the baby Esme was carrying.
Although the baby belonged to Nikolas, Spencer wanted help from Ava since they needed to stop Nik from ruining another life.
Ava got updates on Spencer hiring Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) to go after custody of Esme’s child.
Spencer said Nikolas would know when the time is right, but Ava wondered what Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) thought about all this.
Since Spencer stayed silent, Ava realized he hadn’t told Trina either.
Ava encouraged Spencer to be honest with Trina and decided he needed someone to help him play dirty against Nikolas, so she was in.
At Spring Ridge, Esme was distraught after ending up there, but Heather Webber (Alley Mills) said everything was going to be all right.
Since Esme asked who Heather was, Heather claimed she was Esme’s mate – a one-woman support group.
Heather confirmed that Esme had no memory before they exchanged introductions.
After Heather pointed out that Esme’s name meant “beloved,” she added that whoever gave Esme that name must’ve loved her very much.
Esme wondered where they were when she really needed them if that was the case, but Heather hinted that maybe they were closer than Esme thought.
After Heather encouraged Esme to sit down and get to know her, she promised her a friendship bracelet once she finished it.
Esme said she’d been treated like a criminal and like her baby was a ticking time bomb, but Heather refused to let that happen now.
Since Heather was being so nice, Esme was confused about why she cared and noted that they just met.
Heather said Esme was right not to trust anyone and must’ve come from good people.
Esme asked why she should trust Heather, who chuckled with a “that’s my girl!”
That confused Esme, but Heather just acted like they needed to stick together since every place had their share of rift-raft – like Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom).
Heather warned that Ryan should be avoided at all costs and was as sick as they come.
Heather reflected on one son being in the slammer and another being six feet under before mentioning her daughter being taken from her.
Esme acted like she wished someone would take her baby too, but Heather warned her to never say that.
After Heather got overexcited and grabbed her arm, Esme pulled away and hoped her room was ready.
Heather was eager to talk more, but Esme clearly thought she seemed unhinged and was anxious to get away once the guard came.
Next, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was eager to get her blood test done and worried about losing Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), but Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) offered reassurance.
In Willow’s room at GH, she told TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) that she would induce labor or have a C-section if the bone marrow donor transplant moved forward.
Once TJ found out Nina had arrived for follow-up testing, he met with her and wanted to be present when her blood was drawn.
Nina was apologetic about their past issues, but TJ felt that saving Willow’s life was all that mattered now.
When Carly showed up outside Willow’s door, Michael tried to send his mom away to avoid upsetting her.
Willow pushed Michael to let Carly in, so Carly said she was “really, really sorry” for keeping quiet about her bio mom.
Michael ranted about Carly’s revenge, but she denied it before Willow asked to speak to Carly in private.
Although Willow knew Carly wouldn’t deliberately cause harm and understood why Carly thought she was protecting her, she said that wasn’t Carly’s choice to make.
Willow wasn’t made of glass and thought Carly should’ve trusted her to handle the truth about Nina.
Carly asked if Willow could find it in her heart to forgive her, so Willow admitted she already had.
Later, Sonny popped in for a visit as well. Willow couldn’t believe she was saying this, but she asked how Nina was.
Willow also pointed out that she might not get a happy ending, so she pushed Sonny to do whatever he could to earn Michael’s forgiveness.
In case Willow wasn’t around, she didn’t want Sonny and Michael to be enemies.
Sonny indeed vowed to do whatever he could and urged Willow to take care of his grandchild before he left.
In the GH chapel, Michael said a prayer for Nina to be a match for Willow.
When Carly appeared, Michael allowed her to stay since Willow needed all the prayers she could get.
Unfortunately, Michael couldn’t give Carly the answer she wanted when it came to letting her back in his heart.
Once Michael returned to Willow, he confessed that he wasn’t sure he could forgive Carly for what she did.
While TJ explained the rest of the bone marrow donor process to a hopeful Nina, Sonny found Carly in the chapel and glared at her.
General Hospital spoilers say Sonny’s on the verge of unleashing his wrath, so stay tuned.
