General Hospital Spoilers: Wednesday, January 4 Recap – Britt Dies in Liesl’s Arms – Josslyn Dumps Cam – Esme’s Amnesia

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 4, reveals that Laura Collins (Genie Francis) visited Ava Jerome (Maura West) in hopes of finding out why Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) seemed so afraid.

Laura asked what Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) had on Nikolas, so Ava flashed back to what happened on the parapet and played dumb with Laura.

After Laura apologized for repeatedly encouraging Ava to work things out with Nikolas, Ava assured her that the blame for her failed marriage fell on Nik alone.

Although Laura knew Ava didn’t owe Nikolas anything, she hoped Ava would tell her if she thought of something to get Nik out from under Victor’s thumb.

Ava got a call from Nikolas about Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) and felt they needed to get their story straight about what went down on the parapet.

Once Ava told Laura that Esme had been apprehended, they both headed to the hospital.

In Esme’s room at GH, she acted confused and wondered why Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) kept calling her Miss Prince.

TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) examined Esme and ordered a fetal heart monitor as well as an OB consult, so Esme looked down at her baby bump and seemed horrified over her pregnancy.

Esme claimed she couldn’t remember anything and wondered what was happening to her. When TJ urged Esme to start by telling him her name, she seemed upset over not being able to recall it.

Over with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez), he privately pushed Nikolas to level with him about whether Esme was carrying Nik’s child.

Spencer assumed Nikolas thought he could keep this a secret, so he warned that Esme would blow him out of the water once she woke up.

However, the news of Esme’s amnesia began to spread soon after.

Spencer thought it was a “load of crap,” but Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) considered the idea that it might not be a trick.

In a moment alone with Nikolas, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) also suggested Esme could legitimately have amnesia.

Esme’s best hook defense was to use her time in captivity as an alibi, so Liz was inclined to believe her memory loss.

Laura overheard something about an alibi as she appeared, so she grew suspicious.

Ava also showed up and found out a fetal heart monitor was being sent to Esme’s room.

Trina confirmed that Esme was pregnant, so Ava fumed and asked Dante how far along she was.

Dante couldn’t offer any additional info, but Ava warned him to take everything Esme said with a grain of salt since she was a conniving liar.

Nikolas wanted to go somewhere quiet to talk, but Ava argued that she was fine where she was and demanded to know when Esme conceived.

When Elizabeth tried to intervene, Ava acted like Liz had stood up for Nikolas enough.

Ava asked if Esme’s baby belonged to Nikolas, so he admitted she was carrying his child.

That led to Ava slapping Nikolas across the face and adding that was all she needed to know.

At Dex Heller’s (Evan Hofer) apartment, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) canoodled with him following their hookup and confessed she didn’t regret it.

Even so, Josslyn also knew she owed it to Cameron Webber (William Lipton) to break things off.

At Kelly’s, Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) urged Cameron go celebrate with Josslyn, so he was just about to look for her when Josslyn arrived.

Dex waited outside discreetly just in case “The Hook” was still lurking.

Josslyn wanted to speak with Cameron privately, so she teared up as they sat at a table together.

Although Joss really didn’t want to do this, she said things had changed between them – and she couldn’t ignore it anymore.

Cameron kept acting like they could spend more time together, but Josslyn insisted this was about her feelings and not the physical distance.

Despite previously trying to recapture their spark, Josslyn didn’t think they could get back to where they were.

Cameron realized how final that sounded and felt like an idiot since he thought everything was fine.

Josslyn cried as she assured Cameron that she wasn’t miserable in their relationship. It’s just that Cam and Joss didn’t have the same connection they had before.

Josslyn still loved Cameron, but she wasn’t IN love with him.

That was a problem for Cam since he still had deeper feelings for Josslyn and couldn’t just go back to being friends.

Both Josslyn and Cameron were in tears as they said a painful goodnight. Once he was alone, Cam threw a rag and yelled in frustration.

Meanwhile, Josslyn looked heartbroken as she gazed back at Cameron and ultimately joined Dex outside.

On The Haunted Star, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) collapsed as Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) tried to figure out what was going on.

A weak Britt urged Obrecht not to call for help and encouraged her to finish her toast from earlier.

Liesl opened up to Britt about how she’d been thinking about the time she’d wasted lately. Britt was a miracle that Liesl should’ve embraced from the start.

After Britt coughed up blood, Obrecht realized how serious this was and called an ambulance – though the nearest one was still 10 minutes out.

Britt said they wouldn’t make it in time and revealed that the scratch on her chest was from the venom-coated hook.

Liesl became frantic and wanted to get Britt the antidote, but Britt reiterated that she was out of time.

Nevertheless, Britt was glad she came back so that she could be with Liesl in the end.

Britt asked if Liesl could hold her, so Obrecht pulled her close and cried over memories of when Britt was little.

When Liesl looked down and realized Britt had passed on, she kissed her head and assured her daughter of her love.

After Liesl gave Scott updates on Britt’s death, he called Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) to deliver the horrible news over the phone.

Meanwhile, Liesl shared a moment with Britt’s dead body at GH and struggled to fathom a world without her Britta in it.

Liesl asked Britt to pass along a message to Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) and awaited the day they would all be reunited.

General Hospital spoilers say Britt’s grim fate will send shockwaves all over Port Charles, so stay tuned.
