General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) are facing a mountain of problems – some of which they aren’t even privy to yet.
These exes always used to rely on Jason Morgan (last played by Steve Burton) to help when issues came up, but Sonny and Carly haven’t been able to do that since Jason was presumed dead.
It’s interesting to think about how different Carly and Sonny’s storylines might be if Jason was still in the picture.
For example, it’s tough to believe Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Dex Heller’s (Evan Hofer) secret Sonny plot ever would’ve gotten as far as it did if Jason had been around to stop them.
Sonny has been trying to train Dex to take over Jason’s role as his right-hand man, but he’ll never be what Jason was.
This isn’t the life Dex wants, so how could he ever reach the same level of devotion Jason had?
Even if Dex changes his mind and decides his future is with the mob, he’s just not in the same league as Jason when it comes to being in enforcer territory.
As for Carly, she’s stuck in this insider trading mess and could land in prison because of it.
If Jason were still around, he’d no doubt be doing everything he could to get Carly off the hook.
Jason might’ve caught on about Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) SEC tip and all her nefarious plans if he were alive to protect Carly.
Instead, Carly and Sonny are facing threats from multiple angles, so things are falling apart without Jason as the glue!
Steve Burton is busy playing Harris Michaels on Days of Our Lives, so will the show ever recast the role of Jason Morgan?
They might want to wait – just in case there’s a chance Burton might be able to return as GH’s Jason someday.
Then again, this whole situation with Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) proves that the show’s willing to swap in new faces for familiar fan favorites – and they can pull it off successfully.
It’s possible there’ll come a time when Jason Morgan gets recast as well, so that’s something to keep in mind.
