General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Nikolas Cassadine’s (Adam Huss) exit may not have been as deadly as it seemed. GH fans know Ava Jerome (Maura West) took drastic action to stop Nikolas from going after Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola), which meant whacking him in the head with a nearby statuette.
However, Ava honestly didn’t hit Nikolas THAT hard. Was it really enough to kill Nikolas like Ava thinks?
Although Ava believed Nikolas was no longer breathing when she stashed him in the stables closet, she was in a pretty panicked state.
It’s easy to imagine Ava freaking over this deadly news without realizing Nikolas still had a faint pulse.
As for Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth), they never showed him checking the body to be sure.
Of course, it wouldn’t have mattered even if Austin did when you consider what happened when Peter August (Wes Ramsey) fell down the stairwell at GH.
Both Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) – two supposedly knowledgeable medical professionals – declared Peter dead.
If Finn and Liz can make a mistake that huge, anyone can!
Peter survived that staircase tumble and escaped from the freezer he was locked up in, which led to his return and a more final death later.
With all that in mind, we have to consider the possibility that Nikolas will get the Peter August treatment with a body vanishing act.
Austin is acting a bit suspicious, so it’s possible he knows Nikolas is alive. It’s tough to say why Austin would be lying to Ava, but maybe Nikolas blackmailed him into keeping quiet or something along those lines.
Austin’s reasoning for delaying the disposal of the body made sense, but what if there’s more to the story?
It’s true that Ava and Austin don’t need to be moving a corpse in broad daylight, but Austin was awfully adamant – almost like he knew there wasn’t a body to move.
Then again, maybe Austin truly believes Nikolas is dead like Ava does.
In that case, both Ava and Austin could get a big surprise if that closet is empty when they return to it.
Nikolas might’ve genuinely skipped town like Ava has been claiming – paving the way for Nik to return down the road.
It seems like a shame to kill Nikolas off for real when they already went to the trouble of bringing him back from the dead.
Perhaps Nikolas could still make a comeback played by a brand-new recast or even Adam Huss since many fans seemed to approve of his portrayal.
Tyler Christopher’s return would also be welcomed, so it’d be nice if the show could leave the door open just in case.
Regardless, the longer Austin and Ava delay moving Nikolas’ body, the greater chance it stands of disappearing when you think about how soaps typically operate.
General Hospital spoilers say Ava and Austin may have to make some updates to their plan, so stay tuned.
