In tonight’s Hell’s Kitchen episode, it was the season finale! There was no more room for mistakes. It was down to the final three contestants. They each went into the final challenge believing it would be easy to brainstorm and design their own menus. But watching someone else do it was much easier than doing it yourself. Daphne chose to go with an Italian theme for her menu.

She said it was LA. She considered them to be pretty bougie and so she thought a decadent Italian menu would sell well. Alex on the other hand chose to play into his roots. He was a Southerner. He wanted to use fried foods because he figured no one could turn down fried food.

Alejandro chose a third alternative by selecting a Vietnamese menu. He thought the flavors would play well with this crowd and it helped that he had a sous chef fine-tuning the menu with him. They all got sous, chefs.

They went into different parts of the house and/or the restaurant to find former contestants joining them as their sous chefs. These guys really helped through the planning stages. It also helped that they got a day of pampering before the final challenge. Chef Ramsay sent them to a spa.

They got to take a sound bath. Alex had thought it was voodoo magic at first, but he went along with it and it helped them all relax. Alejandro was so relaxed that he actually fell asleep during it. He woke up towards the end there. Only he had been snoring while he was asleep.

They all heard him and so he couldn’t have hidden that one even if he tried. The contestants also got to wear their best digs to lunch with Chef Ramsay. Ramsay toyed with them at first. He kept showing off a generic hotel ballroom like it was some grand space. He kept asking them out with that before he finally sat them down to dine.

They were all waiting to see their families. They didn’t see them at that lunch because again Chef Ramsay was toying with them and it wasn’t until they returned to Hell’s Kitchen that they finally saw their loved ones. Their family and friends have all come out to watch them in the final challenge. This included all the past contestants from this season. They wanted to watch their favorite pull off a victory. The contestants had to come up with a five-course menu. They then had to cook and execute this menu flawlessly.

There were some wins from the very start. Like Alex’s dish. It looked beautiful. It also tasted great. Daphne and Alex however had run into a problem. They basically made the same dish. They made beef tartar. They prepared differently. Only it was the same thing. It invited comparisons. Daphne’s dish tasted great. Alejandro’s dish was disappointing in comparison to Daphne’s. Who knows how it would have tasted on its own? The rounds only got harder from there and Alejandro now saw Daphne more of a threat that he did Alex.

Which was silly! Alex had cooked an amazing starter. His second dish had just lacked a little something because he decided to elevate a hush puppy and the guest judge felt it lacked a shrimp flavor. But at least Alex was sticking to his theme. Alejandro seems to have forgotten his mid-way. Alejandro’s second dish was great and Vietnamese. His third round entrée was a simple chicken and potatoes meal. It tasted great. It just wasn’t keeping to the theme. Alejandro got lucky with the judge in that round because he still scored about the same as Daphne in that round. And Alex had actually fallen back on that one.

Daphne was in the lead. Alex and Alejandro had the same amount of points by then. They maintained the same points all the way toward the final round of the meal. Daphne was one point ahead. She got to go into the finale. It was just down between Alex and Alejandro and it ended up going to Alex. Alex and Daphne were the top two. They had the same score after their final challenge. Alex scored more tens than she did. He got to pick his dinner service first. And the first person he chose to join him was Alejandro.

Daphne’s first pick was Sommer. They each finished picking their teams based on people’s personalities and who they thought they could work with. After they finished selecting people, Alex took Daphne aside for a conversation. Alex knew what it was like to be overwhelmed. He felt like that every day before he sought out a chance on the show and so he wanted to check in with Daphne. He wanted to see if she was okay. She was and they talked for a while before they went their separate ways. And they had to do the last part because they had to arrange their teams.

They had to assign people to stations. Alex for one had to deal with a little drama because he chose Tara for his team and there were some that thought she was a hot mess. They thought she would mess up during service. They couldn’t understand why Alex chose her. It also didn’t help that Tara has a chip on her shoulder. She suspected the others were talking about her and she said she would prove them all wrong with dinner service. Alex and Daphne also got a chance to just spend time with their families. And they helped them to focus on their final dinner service.

Daphne was the leader of the Red Team. She stuck to her Italian theme. Alex did the same with his Blue Team and his Southern theme. They each got some time to welcome the crowd for the dinner service. But once that service started, it was easy to spot the mistakes. Brett was one of those people that doubted Tara yet he was the one making mistakes at his own station. Brett’s mistakes weren’t even just a one-and-done. He kept making mistakes. Over on the Red Team, they had their own Brett in Sakari. Sakari was at the meat station and he was sending out raw meat.

Someone had to leave their station to go check up on Sakari at his station. Even after Brett had started working out on the Blue Team, it then became Cheyenne’s turn to let Alex down. Cheyenne delivered raw meat. Ramsay had to take both Alex and Daphne and he told them to get control of their teams. They both went back. They got things in order. They were able to finish their dinner service with no other problems. Everyone enjoyed their meals. They saw why Alex and Daphne made it to the final dinner service.

After it was all over, the two contestants hung out in the back. They waited while Chef Ramsay read through all feedback and he landed on a winner.

The winner of Season 21 of “Hell’s Kitchen” was Alex!

Alex was such a nice guy that he truly deserves this.

THE END!
