In tonight’s Law & Order; Organized Crime episode, Kyle was a bit of a misfit. He created Shadowerk because he was looking for a community. He wanted to feel less alone. He didn’t have friends or family he could turn to. He took his Uber driver out for a meal at Christmas. She was the only willing to share a meal with him.
All the others were a bit scared of him. They could see that Kyle wasn’t well. They tried to tell him to get help. He refused to do so. He based his whole sense of worth on that website. The website didn’t draw in many clients at first. It was dead air for so long that Kyle began to feel like a failure. And he came close to killing himself.
Kyle had strung a rope around his neck. He jumped off the chair and that’s when he heard a ping from his website. Someone had finally posted a job there. Kyle cut himself down. He then took on that job hoping to build a reputation for Shadowerk. NYPD and even the FBI have since tried to shut him down.
They got to the computers in Ohio. They tried to stop the website from going online, but Kyle found a way around them. He has several servers that he was operating and they were all connected to proxy servers. Jet had no way of tracking them or him down.
They had to work the case like they normally would. By focusing on people. They tagged the company he was using. They found his mom and they tried to find Kyle too. His mother refused to give him up. Linda wouldn’t say where he was or believe them that her son was a monster.
She didn’t even care that she could face jailtime herself now. She was overcompensating for her guilt. She thought protecting her son would be the way forward and so Amanda Rollins showed her Kyle’s suicide note. The one he wrote when he first started his website. She showed Linda that he thought he had a calling and without that he has nothing else.
Once Linda could read how mentally unwell her son was, she gave him up. She did at the perfect time too. Kyle had arranged for a hit on both Benson and Stabler.
Someone tried to collect by killing them in a diner where they were having lunch. The hitman shot Benson and temporarily blinded Stabler. Their injuries weren’t serious. They killed the hitman. They were rushed to the hospital and thankfully the cops found Kyle before he could put out another hit on the cops. Kyle was staying at a cabin they have in the woods.
The cops and the feds went out there. They found the cabin that was wired up with computers as well as security cameras. Kyle saw them coming. He grabbed a gun. He shot Jamie as the cops were pursuing him. He also stabbed himself so that they would have no way of shutting down his website without him. The medical team went first to Kyle before going to Jamie. Jamie’s bullet had gone through his neck into his spine. He might never walk again. Who knows what those few minutes cost him? He couldn’t even move his arms and so Kyle fared off better.
Kyle was revived. He was in a wheelchair. He was transferred to NYC. He was still bragging about his website. Several more rapes were carried out in the city because of him. He was the most prolific mass murder in the history of the United States. He was never coming out of jail, but they could make a deal with him. Kyle’s mom was facing charges. Kyle loves his mom. He wouldn’t want her to die in prison. She had played no part in his crimes. She was innocent. She loved and defended him. She didn’t deserve jailtime for his crimes.
Kyle later made a deal with the AUSA. He was going to shut down the website in return for his mom to go unpunished. Kyle hated doing it only he did it. He shut down the website. He ended all reasons he had for living. He gave the police all they wanted and he himself was facing a life sentence. He was never coming out of prison. And unfortunately Jamie was never going to get better. Jamie asked everyone he could to put him out of his misery and it seems his father was the only one that couldn’t ignore his cries for death.
Jamie died. His team was devastated and Stabler closed out his season by exchanging gifts with Benson.
She got him an ornament and he got her a compass necklace.
THE END!
