In tonight’s Law & Order Organized Crime episode, Sergeant Bell was called to testify at a parole hearing. The man who murdered her former partner was appealing to be released and Bell went to the hearing to stop that man from seeing the light of day. She needed backup. Detective Stabler went with her.

He was supporting her when out of nowhere the supposed murderer claimed he was innocent. He said he took the fall for a crime he didn’t do because he was promised they would look after his family, but something happened. Either that promise was never realized or something happened to his family but either way Octavio Montanero claimed he was innocent. And that he had always been innocent.

But the odd thing is that Bell believed him. It was just this feeling she got deep down. She later looked into the old case after the parole was dismissed. She found discrepancies she never noticed back then. She found out that a bullet from Octavio’s gun didn’t match the bullet that was taken out of her partner. She also learned that the cop that was working the case was quick to blame Octavio. He was even willing to lie to make his case. Octavio was a drug addict. He was strung out to the point he couldn’t really defend himself and so that’s how an innocent man went to jail.

Octavio didn’t commit murder. Only he knows who did. Bell visited Octavio in prison and they talked. He told her that the man that killed her partner was actually Eamon Murphy. Murphy was a crime boss. He has connections all around the city and he was dangerous. Not long after Octavio told Bell who killed her partner, he was murdered in prison. Murphy found out he was talking and killed him. He was trying to stop anyone from believing Octavio’s story when really all he did by killing Octavio was prove that the man had been right along.

He hadn’t killed a cop. It was Murphy. It was always Murphy. Murphy was still out and participating in the drug trade and so Bell wanted Stabler’s help in taking him down. She felt she owed that to her partner. She tried to talk to Deputy Inspector about it, but he told her to back down. He didn’t want Bell going after Murphy because he thought that was pointless. The FBI, the DEA, and several NYPD crews have all tried taking down Murphy. They all failed. Murphy has always gotten away and Bell’s boss didn’t want to waste the money or the manpower.

Bell was told to drop the matter. But she refused to do so. She told her boss that she was going after Murphy and that she would make sure he got credit when she finally brought down the notorious crime boss. As for how she was going after Murphy, she contacted an old friend for help. Bell and Stabler reached out to Teddy Silas. He was awaiting trial. He was stuck on house arrest He couldn’t leave his house without supervision. He also wanted a kind word to the District Attorney. Silas agreed to reopen his bar in the heart of Murphy’s territory in return for those things and so the cops thought they could work with Teddy.

They didn’t know Teddy walked around with a bag full of cash as well as his passport. They also didn’t know about his gun until they searched him and found it. Teddy said he has to take a gun when he meets with Murphy. Murphy was a dangerous guy after all. Murphy would be expecting him to carry a gun. Only the cops couldn’t allow a criminal to have access to that and so they commandeered the gun. They continued with their roles as people working at Teddy’s club. It later granted them an opportunity to get close enough to Seamus O’Meara.

Seamus was Murphy’s second in command. He knew all about the business and he loved Teddy’s bar. He showed up for the grand reopening. He came with his people. He was off flirting with Jet while he played blackjack meanwhile his people lowered their guard enough to start talking. They mentioned a big shipment coming in. Bell was listening from the secret cameras. She wanted to use that information to take down Murphy’s operation and so they looked into the shipment. They followed it.

Everything was going so well until Seamus waited for Jet to get off of work. He developed a little crush on her. He also ended up introducing him to Murphy. Murphy became curious about how Seamus was spending his night off and so he followed him and he met up with him as he was talking Jet into a date, but now that Murphy has seen her face, he was not going to forget it anytime soon. He might even pose a problem for her.

And an investigator from the District Attorney’s office has contacted Stabler about helping to take down Murphy. But there’s no telling if Bell was willing to accept that help if it came with strings.

THE END!
