In tonight’s Law & Order Organized Crime episode, the detectives were going undercover at a gay bar. They wanted to find a drug dealer. This dealer was becoming a big name and it was up to them to stop him. Only they ran into several issues in making the arrest.

They caught Paolo Costa on camera selling drugs. There was no problem with that and so the problem was when a man passed out at the club. Their drug dealer tried to run off in the chaos. The cops chased after him. They managed to catch up to Paolo thanks to a good Samaritan assaulting Paolo. And stop him from running off.

The guy also ran away when police arrived at the scene. Not that they went looking for him straight away. They were more concerned with arresting Paolo and getting treatment for the guy that passed out. The guy had apparently been drugged with GHB. He also turned out to be a cop.

His name was Eric. Eric didn’t want it getting out that he had been at a gay nightclub. He was worried about getting harassed at work and so he asked Sergeant Bell to leave his name out of their file. And he refused to bend even as she tried to convince him otherwise.

Bell knew what happened to him was a crime. She wanted to get justice for him. Only he told her to make her case another way and so she tried to do that by talking to Paolo. Paolo sold the GHB that was used on Eric. She demanded to know who he sold it to that night, but he asked for a lawyer and he refused to cooperate after that and so that’s when they went looking for the Good Samaritan.

They were hoping he would at least know what happened at the club that night. There was security footage from the club proving that he was there on the night they busted Paolo.

The police eventually found him by tracking him leaving the club. They followed him to his neighborhood. They then found out that he was another victim of Paolo’s drug trade. The guy had gotten drugged and robbed. They used his face to unlock his phone.

They stole fifty grand from him. They took all of his life savings and he knew Paolo was to blame because Paolo sold the drug to most of their community. There’s been several drugging/robberies of gay men in both Brooklyn as well as Manhattan and most of them have given up going to the police about it because the police are choosing not to help.

Bell looked into it. There were a bunch of reportings from other victims on what’s going on. Most of the men that reported it to the police haven’t heard back from the detectives that were supposed to be working their case. They’ve been ignored if not outright dismissed.

There was even one victim who was told that he must have been partying too hard in spite being left for dead in a street. This is why the community stopped contacting the police. They were just going accept this situation and Bell felt badly about that.

Bell was a gay cop. She had her people looking into Paolo and circling him for weeks. Never once did the drugging or the robberies came across her desk or was indicated to be connected to her case. Bell blamed herself. She felt she should have known.

Bell also knew that NYPD were blatantly at fault for these robberies continuing unabated. She’s taken down dirty cops before and she felt some were deliberately looking the other way as these crimes were taking place. And so Bell made this case personal.

They later believed they had a suspect. They thought that the man that owes the club could be behind the robberies just because he had mob ties. Only it wasn’t him. He said he would never hurt people at his own club because it was bad for business.

Robert Petrillo was smart enough not to do something so stupid as that. His son on the other hand was that stupid. Alex Petrillo was trying to pay off his dad’s debt. His dad only went into debt because he wanted to buy up those clubs and have Alex run them clean.

Robert was involved in the mob life. He didn’t want his son to be. He also warned his son that Organized Crime was looking into the robberies. Alex then tried to pay it smart by drugging people at their house instead of the club. It unfortunately led to a murder.

He and his buddies killed someone. The police were only able to arrest Alex because Eric decided to put himself on the line. Eric went with Stabler undercover at a nightclub. They waited for Stabler to be approached. Eric saw Alex and his buddy drugging Stabler’s drink. And he stepped in.

He punched Alex. Eric was still mad about getting drugged and so he didn’t really follow the book on this one, but they did arrest Alex. They got the mastermind of these hate crimes. They also threatened to involve his dad and so Alex came clean.

He admitted to the assaults/robberies. He said he was trying to pay off his dad’s debts. He said his dad was indebted to known mafioso, Frank Moretti. Alex agreed to wear a wire when he met up with Moretti and he was supposed to have caught him in extortion only Moretti tried to murder him.

It turns out Alex’s father was never in debt. He was making tons of money by using the nightclubs to launder money for the mob and now the mob was getting greedy. They wanted all the nightclubs. They were threatening to kill both Alex and his dad to get them and so that’s when the police stepped in.

The police arrested Moretti. Alex still got tried for Murder One and now his father was in legal trouble for using the clubs to launder money.

THE END!
