Captain Greene’s death has been ruled a homicide. His cause of death was waterboarding and so HPD were investigating it. But that wasn’t enough for Magnum. Magnum wanted to investigate it himself. He asked Gordo to get him the file on Greene’s murder. He knew it was a big ask going in. He only asked it because he finally figured out the message that Greene left for him with his watch. The watch alluded to a mission he did with his buddies. Greene was the only one who could name names of the people on that mission and now he’s been killed. And so Magnum was afraid he was next.

There was just one problem – he wasn’t getting that file. Gordo wanted to be reinstated to HPD and he couldn’t risk his career again on a favor for a friend. Not even Magnum. Gordo didn’t even understand the watch message. He thought Magnum might be wrong and that’s why he turned him down. He told him he couldn’t help. Magnum tried to understand, but a new case helped take his mind off his problems. Magnum and Juliette were hired to locate a missing CFO. Her name was Sandra Perez. Sandra didn’t really have a private life. She lived for work. She was usually the first to arrive and the last to leave.

Then she missed a day of work. It was so unlike her that her business partner Jordan Hines hired the private investigators to track down Sandra for him because he needed her. They were trying to save the company from a corporate takeover. They were in the business of clean energy and Sandra was keeping the wolves at bay. Sandra was single handedly saving that company right up until she died. Juliette later found Sandra’s body in a dumpster. Sandra had been killed not long after her last work day.

Sandra had been murdered. Magnum and Juliette came to suspect the guy that sent Sandra a package on the day she died. They learned that he was trying to take her company through a hostile takeover and that Sandra was preventing him doing so. She was so good at her job that the businessman offered her job. He wanted her to come work for him. He even sent over a lucrative contract on the day she died and Sandra took the time to shred it before turning him down. Sandra wanted to stay with the company.

She wanted to stay because she was having an affair with her partner, Jordan. Juliette and Magnum found out about the affair. They also remembered that Jordan is very much married with kids. They then went to Jordan’s house and they asked him in private about the affair. Jordan claims its been going on for a year. He also said that he didn’t kill her and he got so offended when they asked him about an alibi that he fired them. He thought that would stop them from looking into Sandra’s death. And he had misjudged them.

Magnum and Juliette never give up on a case. They continued to look into Sandra’s murder. They went to HPD headquarters to tell Detective Childs about Jordan when they learned he had already made an arrest. The detective had arrested the janitor. The janitor was a contractor during his off hours and he did a little work for Sandra. Sandra actually owed him money when she died. The janitor had left her several text messages asking her to pay up and he was in the building on the night she died.

Juliette had spoke with the janitor. She didn’t get the killer vibe from him and so she and Magnum agreed to work for the janitor. They snuck in to see him. They asked him about the night Sandra died. He said he was keyed in, but he wasn’t always there. He was running back and forth. He had left the door propped open. Anyone could have gotten inside. The guy also heard two women arguing. Magnum and Juliette thought Jordan’s wife Nina must have learned about the affair and gotten upset. Except she didn’t care about the affair.

Jordan has been cheating on her for years with a bunch of women. Sandra was the most respectful of the lot. She didn’t expect Jordan to leave his wife or throw her affair in Nina’s face and so Nina let her stick around. Nina didn’t kill Sandra. Right after she talked to Magnum and Juliette, Jordan however confessed that he killed Sandra when it turns out he too was innocent. He didn’t kill her. His teenage daughter Zoe killed Sandra. Magnum and Juliette found evidence that Zoe learned about the affair and got offended on her mom’s behalf.

They tried talking to Jordan. They tried to get him to turn on his daughter and he absolutely refused to do that. He was taking the fall for this. Nothing would change his mind and he felt he was finally being the father that Zoe deserved. Magnum and Juliette couldn’t stop an innocent man from going to prison, but at least this was Jordan’s choice and they chose to accept what they couldn’t change. And after everything, Gordo got Magnum the file on Greene’s murder.

Gordo came through for a friend and he’ll deny all knowledge of doing it if it comes out.

Rick’s sister Ruthie visited the island to meet baby Joy. Ruthie also came with the purpose of telling Rick that she’s engaged and that its to a woman. It turns out she’s gay. She came out to everyone else years ago, but she only felt comfortable telling Rick now because she wanted to ask him to walk her down the aisle. And Rick put aside his feelings of being offended to instead be honored that Ruthie still turned to him to walk her down the aisle.
