Tonight on NBC their reboot of the classic series Magnum P.I. airs with an all-new Sunday, April 16, 2023, episode and we have your Magnum P.I. recap below. In tonight’s Magnum PI episode Juliette Higgins was having nightmares long before she took this most recent case. The nightmares were usually about Magnum. The two of them were friends for a long time before they began dating and now she worries about losing him. He means a great deal to her. She’s in love with him.
He’s in love with her. They were so happy together, but they’d both done some dangerous things and are living dangerous lifestyles as private investigators. They often had to go undercover for their cases. They get involved in gangs war as well as human trafficking in order to get justice. And so Juliette has a right to be worried about him.
Where she went wrong was in pushing him away. She began having those nightmares of him violently dying. She then used that as justification to create some distance with Magnum because she deep down she was afraid of losing him and that wasn’t fair to him. He had no clue why she was so short-tempered.
He just knew they went from discussing everything to suddenly Juliette was ignoring what he had to say. Magnum tried asking her about it. She dismissed his concerns and she told him to deal with Detective Childs.
Magnum was contacted by Detective Childs. The detective found out about their stunt with Lewis Peele and he demanded to be told everything. Magnum tried to warn him that it would be dangerous if he involved himself.
Only he didn’t care. The detective has never run from a fight. He wasn’t going to start now and so Magnum told him about Oliver Cane. Cane was working alongside a group of former military to hunt down Magnum and his friends. He was recently taken to a black site. He was off the grid, but Magnum still had questions about him.
Magnum gave Cane’s name to Detective Childs. It was up to the detective to dig up whatever he could on Cane and Magnum meanwhile decided to help out Juliette after she began being nice to him again. Juliette’s client was a grieving widow. Josie’s boyfriend had died. She was the one to find him and it had looked like he killed himself.
He was found alone in his garage with the motor running. HPD ruled it as suicide. Only Josie had questions. She never once saw this suicide coming and she thought something happened at work to make Otis do this.
Josie hired Juliette because she wanted to know what really happened. Did Otis kill himself because he was depressed? Or did he kill himself because something at work?
She wanted to know what pushed him into doing what he did. She didn’t see any signs with his home life. She figured it must have been his work life that drove him to it. She began noticing a shift in his behavior after a supposedly bad day at work. Otis was an orderly at a psychiatric hospital. Josie just wanted to know if something happened at work and so Juliette agreed to look into it.
Juliette saw how devastated Josie was to lose someone she loves. It reminded her that she was being unfair to Magnum. She later apologized to him and she got his aide with this case. Juliette was going to go undercover at the hospital. She was pretending to be the new therapist.
She made sure to affect an American accent only one of the patients saw through her act. Becca watches a lot of “House MD” everyday. She knew that the main doctor spoke with hard “r’s” because he was trying to hide the fact he was British and so she correctly heard the same with Juliette.
Juliette revealed she was looking into Otis’s death. Becca decided traded one truth for another. She told Juliette that she saw Otis coming out of the office where they held all the prescriptions and he had no reason for being there. He wasn’t one of the nurses. His job was to keep patients in line. So, Juliette went digging through the patient’s files. She found out one patient didn’t belong there. His name is Steven. Steven was committed right after his partner got a huge payout to sell their company. And so the partner was drugging him to make him looks crazy.
There was nothing actually wrong with Steven. Steven’s former partner was just keeping him committed to keep all the money and he was paying one of the nurses to keep Steven drugged. This same nurse figured out Juliette was looking into Otis’s death. She then drugged Juliette.
She planned on killing her when really she helped Juliette see the truth of the nightmares. In her nightmares, she sees Magnum bleeding out and her hands covered with blood except the blood on her hands were never Magnum’s. They were Richard’s. Juliette blames herself for his death and she thought the same might happen to Magnum.
Juliette was having the realization the same time that Magnum came to her rescue. He saved Juliette’s life. They arrested the nurse who revealed she killed Otis to keep her pay day running. The business partner was also arrested. Steven was taken off the medication and he was now residing with his family. Also, Juliette was now finally talking things out with Magnum. He was helping her with her grief.
But Gordon was taking his son to look at colleges on the mainland. They were assaulted by a racist in a bar on one of these visits. The racist was arrested only the whole thing made Gordo’s son considered a college back on Hawaii, but Gordon told him not to let his fear stop him from pursuing his dream.
And Detective Childs was killed in a house bomb. TC was shot and the people after them have now identified them.
