Its the beginning of a very competitive season. The top twenty enter the studio and is set up to look like a carnival. The fun begins now, for this challenge they have cook something inspired from the state fair. Aarón says this is not excuse just to deep fry something and call it a day because whoever cooks the worse dish will be eliminated. Joe tells them it has to be an elevated version of state fair food. Gordon says there is a massive twist this season, they have cook along side others from their home region. The have one hour on the clock to cook their dishes to impress the judges.

James is adamant that he has the best region from the West. Nina from the Northeast is nervous, Gordon gives her some advice on how to make her fish sandwich. Raegan tells Gordon she has a great group and she is confident. Kyle thinks the Midwest has an advantage, they are the kings of the Midwest with a team of solid chefs. He is going to fry lobster and Joe is worried about it being too dry. Kendal has a lot of competitions at state fairs, but is worried that he only has an hour to prep. Wayne is making pumpkin risotto, in business he has always taken risks and believes he’s got this. The judges are already critiquing the dishes and they haven’t even tasted them.

The judges walk around and choose the dishes that they want to taste, the best the believe from every region.

The first dish is from the Northeast from Nina who made Fried Fish Sandwich with Garlic Lemon Aioli, Potato Chips and Lemon Tahini Slaw. Gordon says the fish is cooked beautifully, great job. Aarón says it is a star for him, he loves the sauce on the sandwich. Joe says it is the kind of dish he would pay twenty four dollars for.

The second dish is from he South from Reagan who made Paneed Chicken Breast with Lemon Butter Crab Sauce, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Hot Sauce. Gordon says the chicken is cooked beautifully, the season is spot on. Aarón loves it and Joe does as well.

The third dish is from the Midwest from Kyle who made Beer Battered Lobster Fries with Fennel Slaw & Tarragon Beer Vinaigrette. Gordon says the lobster is delicious, Aarón says tarragon and lobster go beautifully together, Joe says it is about as good as it gets.

The four dish is from the West from James who made Mushroom Festival Burger with Garlic Aioli, Arugula, Wild Mushrooms and Caramelized Onions. Joe says it is perfection. Aarón says everything is in balance. Gordon says the burger has attitude, he knows a good budger.

The winner of this challenge is Kyle, he gets the immunity pin and his region is safe. Even though Wayne is safe because he is from Kyle’s region, Gordon tells him that his risotto was not on point and Joe says he would have been on the bottom and could have gone home.

There is one dish from each region that really missed the bar tonight.

Richie’s dish was off balance, he made a Deconstructed Cheesecake. Gordon says it looks like garnish, although it tastes good. Joe says he didn’t listen to the challenge, it is not a dish.

Kendal concerned them with his plating and seasoning, he made Herb Roasted Chicken Kebab. Gordon says the cook is good, but need more. Aarón says there is no seasoning, Joe thinks he lost his vision for the dish.

Amanda did not elevate her dish to the judges expectations, she made Roasted Cod Fish Tacos. Gordon says he can buy one outside for three dollars that look better. Gordon’s taco was thick and dry, he is talking and Amanda interrupts him – he asks her to let him finish. Aarón says the taco lack execution. Joe says it is not a terrible dish, but it is not what they want.

The cook with the worst dish and going home tonight is Amanda from the West region.
