In tonight’s Match Me Abroad episode, Americans have turned to matchmakers to help them meet foreigners. It’s wonderful that international matchmaking was taking off. But why didn’t they seek out matchmakers to introduce them to other Americans? You would think it’d be easier.

Chad travelled halfway across the world to only hear let’s be friends. He’s had several engagements and he doesn’t take rejection well. He started yelling. He started cursing. He was just ready to leave Colombia and to never come back. It didn’t matter that his dinner date wanted to at least explain herself. She wanted to tell him why she couldn’t see a relationship working.

Only Chad wouldn’t let her talk. He was being reminded that he said he constantly wants to work all the time and that he would rather work than go on vacation. Even if he qualifies for a vacation. He was being told by his date that she wanted something different for herself. She wanted someone who can relax. Someone who will take the time to enjoy living and who won’t throw himself into work. Chad didn’t want to hear all of that. He accused his date of being full of crap. He said everyone in Colombia was full of crap. And that he couldn’t wait to leave.

Chad said he was never coming back to the country. Harold however was still being optimistic. He just told the woman he’s been dating that he was ready to be in an official relationship and she told him that she doesn’t want to rush into anything. They’ve been together a week. She wants to get to know each other better.

He meanwhile has an engagement ring in his pocket. Harold was on the spectrum. He doesn’t normally kiss women on the first date and he thinks the fact that Michaela kissed him back meant she was ready to marry him.

Harold thinks the fact that he didn’t get rejection that time meant it was forever. He doesn’t seem to understand that relationships need to be built. Michaela wants to get to know him more and to date long-distance before she can commit to him in any way. She told him that. He’s the one that wouldn’t take the hint. Harold later went to her apartment and he pulled out the ring. Like the ring would suddenly make her want to commit to him while they barely know each other. And sadly a commercial break cut in at the worst time possible – i.e. before we heard her answer.

Not that the answer was revealed after the commercial break. They instead showed Michelle. Michelle was the one of the few honest people on the show. She met Pavol on her last night in his country. They made a connection and he offered to drive her to the airport the next day. He was on time for both the date as well as the airport drop-off. He was respectful. He was funny. Michelle likes him. She just wasn’t going to marry him or ask him to give up his life to move to the United States after one date.

She was on the other hand willing to keep talking to him. They could video-chat. They can get to know each other and everything can happen organically. The American women are far more reasonable than their male counterparts this season. Stanika came back from her trip to Morocco feeling hopeful. She was still in communication with Noureddine. They were dating and having fun. They weren’t in any rush. They were simply taking their time and there’s high hope for them. But once the show had checked in with the ladies, it was time to go check in on Harold.

Harold did get rejected. Michaela couldn’t be his wife and he said understood. He wanted her to keep the ring because he wanted her to have something of his. And so the ring turned into a promise ring. He said the ring could be a promise to get to know each other. He also said that he’ll wait for Michaela. He hasn’t had a woman understand him in a very long time and he held onto his optimism. He didn’t get mad. He didn’t yell. He didn’t curse. He just accepted what Michaela told him and decided to keep working on the relationship. Harold handled things so much better than Chad.

Chad turned toxic in a New York minute. He then went back to Juan and Juan called him out. Juan told Chad that he reverted back to his old ways. The same ways that ended three engagements. Chad acted horribly to Maria and Juan helped Chad to see that he needs to apologize. He tried to get a woman engaged to him after two dates. She saw the warning signs. Its why she tried to be friends with him. Only there was no chance for a friendship now that he burnt that bridge. Chad later called her with Juan prodding him and he apologized. And you can tell Maria respects herself because she sent his message to voicemail rather than answer that call.

And while Chad tried to play the good ole boy routine again when he was leaving the country, no one believes it anymore. He was no Harold. Harold was kind and respectful. Harold was still talking to Michaela after filming was done. Chad has never spoken to Maria again. He did however meet a German woman he wants to meet in person one day. The ladies were dating long-distance. And the other guys were trying to date domestically for once.

THE END!
