In tonight’s NCIS episode and the team was brought in after someone sent a severed head to a Navy Lieutenant. They even brought along their ride to the scene. Special Agent Knight was ordered by Director Vance himself to let a famous actress watch her in action and so Chloe Marlene went with them to the scene.
Chloe wanted to get insight into an NCIS REACT Agent’s mindset because she was going to play one in a film. The Navy also was hoping that the film becomes a great recruitment video for them and yet allowing Chloe to see everything was probably a mistake. She almost got blown up on Day 1. And that’s in addition to her seeing that severed head.
The delivery was actually made by a robot delivery service. The robot followed Lieutenant Renee Harlan around until she agreed to accept the delivery and that’s when she saw the head. But the killer using a robot delivery service was great in terms of the case.
Those items were usually recorded before they were put in the box so the company could access the video only the killer thought of that. He planted a bomb in the device that was pressure sensitive. The bomb went off moments after the head was removed. And it was Knight that saw the timer go off.
She was forced to push the robot into the water to minimize damage. Oddly Chloe was very calm about being almost blown up. She said that her acting coach had taught her to disassociate. She made herself believe that this was all a movie and that the bomb and head had been props.
It helped her get through the case. Or it did until the sun went down. It’s hard to be confident in the dead of night when no one else was around. Chloe did her best to push through it and unfortunately not long after she did this came got more complicated.
Kasie was able to identify the victim. His name was Roscoe Sanchez. He thankfully had a pacemaker and nowadays those things were equipped with a GPS tracker. Kasie used that to get a location on the rest of Sanchez’s remains. The NCIS Agents went to that location expecting to find their killer.
They ended up finding a guillotine as well as the severed heads of two other victims. Their killer was a serial killer. The only thing all the victims had in common was that they had two different colored eyes. They had heterochromia.
Remember that lieutenant that got sent the bomb? Renee was married to a man with heterochromia. It seems that people with the condition were usually killed in the medieval days for possibly being possessed and the wives were also killed if they were pregnant because the condition is hereditary. That’s what the killer was trying to do by sending that bomb to Renee. She was pregnant. The killer couldn’t decapitate a baby in the womb and so he was trying to kill the mother to stop the child from being born. And once the team realized this, they tried to warn Renee and her husband.
Though they were sadly too late in doing so. They arrived at Renee’s home to find out someone had already broken in and had abducted the couple. The couple had tried to put up a fight. It just hadn’t been enough. They were gone and the team was looking for them by trying to find their killer. The last part wasn’t hard because Sam Novak wanted to be found. Novak was proud to have killed off a bunch of people with the same condition. He thought he was saving the world by removing evil. He didn’t care about their lives or that they were good people. Or even that they were harmless to him.
He considered a similar chance of different color eyes as being a stand-in for the evil eye. Novak was quickly found thanks to his craziness and he quickly confessed to being the killer. The only thing he didn’t want to do was to tell them where Renee and her husband were. He also alluded to them running out of time and that indicated he planted another bomb. NCIS tried to get him to tell them where they were, but he refused. He said he’d only tell Chloe. He saw her on the video delivery service. He knew she was connected to the case and he wanted to meet a celebrity. And so NCIS asked Chloe to do them this huge favor.
They asked her to talk to Novak. Only Chloe had been nervous about it. She was an actress. She could screw up at her job and do another take and she couldn’t do that here. Not in this situation. She still agreed to go through with it because she thought she was making a difference, but Novak was a sociopath that enjoyed toying with her. He bragged about knowing where her mother was. He frightened her by saying NCIS didn’t have a single piece of evidence on him and that he could get out of there whenever he wanted. And so she left the room in tears because she was that scared of him.
Chloe later convinced him to return to the room. NCIS came up with a game plan. They figured out how to manipulate Novak and he revealed to him why he was killing those people. He has heterochromia. He knew himself as evil and he thought everyone else with the condition must be the same. But he revealed where he thought the bodies of his victims were because they convinced him that time ran out. And that’s how the team was able to save the Harlans before the bomb went off.
The Harlans were safe.
Novak will never see the light of day again.
Chloe also knew now how to play her character and Torres got to play a dead body in the film.
THE END!
