In tonight’s S.W.A.T. episode, Sanchez started his own security firm. He’s now in open competition with Deacon. Deacon works with a private security firm as well. He did it first and Sanchez was following him, but Sanchez was technically cheaper. He was just starting out. He wanted to make a name for himself in the business.

He was selling his services at less than the normal rate in order to draw in business. He couldn’t be making that much of a profit from it and he was still doing it anyway because he wanted to beat Deacon.

Deacon was clearly a factor with Sanchez. Sanchez has even started to badmouth Deacon’s company. He was calling up Deacon’s clients and telling them that he was too busy being a cop.

He claimed Deacon’s head wasn’t in the game. Sanchez was doing everything he could to poach clients away from Deacon and he was making this quite personal. He was set on ending Deacon. Deacon wanted to know why. He asked Sanchez to come by the station to respond to what his clients have been telling him.

Sanchez never came. He instead gave Deacon the runaround. Deacon just couldn’t pursue him because work did come first. He was with SWAT when they went to go assist the DEA on a gang sweep. They knocked down doors. They made arrests. They found Shorty first. Shorty was Marcos Guzman’s brother.

His brother had been there as well. He was found second. They were apparently there because their cousin needed their help. Their cousin Muriel was dating someone in the gang. Her boyfriend disappeared two days ago. She needed help to collect her stuff. She and her cousins wanted out of the life.

They wanted to start over in Ohio. They have family there. Then they were arrested as part of a major sweep of the Los Nuevas gang. They were being put in the back of a car when Leandro the missing boyfriend showed up. Leandro has been tortured. He was missing three of his fingers.

All he would tell the police was that the Zamora cartel was going to kill their families. Leandro was taken to a hospital. The others in Los Nuevas were interrogated. They weren’t talking, but Marcos was. Marcos wanted a deal for his brother and cousin before he talked.

Once they promised they could keep them safe, Marcos told him everything. Marcos said that Los Nuevas went into business with the Zamora cartel. The cartel was known for terrorizing Northern Mexico. It was run by Sancho Zamora who hasn’t been seen since the 90s. It was his son Ulan that was running things now. He wanted to expand their business into the black tar heroin trade in the United States. Ulan made a deal with a local gang to transport drugs in return for money. The DEA confiscated their money before the Zamoras got it.

Ulan was now wanting his missing cash. He was a real sadist. He kills the families of anyone who crosses him. He wanted his three million dollars and he was going to keep killing until he got it. The DEA never told LAPD that they confiscated three million dollars. They sat on that information because they wanted to lure Ulan into visiting the United States to recuperate his money. The DEA were not concerned with innocent casualties that would get in the way. They were willing to let those people die if it gets them Ulan Zamora.

The DEA even tried to invalidate the deal they had with Marcos. They wanted Ulan and nothing else mattered. Luca and Street knew Marcos. They got him a special deal that would mean him going into witness protection. The DEA didn’t want to include his brother in the deal. They claimed that Shorty matches the description of a known felon only Shorty was twelve and a foot shorter than his current height when the crime took place. He wasn’t their guy. They just didn’t want to release him for nothing.

The DEA were ruthless. SWAT tried to help Marcos on their own. They found out something. They found out that Muriel’s baby was fathered by Ulan. She and her boyfriend had visited Ulan down in Mexico. She was drugged and she was raped. Her boyfriend never knew what Ulan did. Ulan was the father of her baby and they used that information to get a deal from the DEA. Marcos called up Ulan’s people. He told them about the baby. They agreed to meet with him and they later found the wire he was wearing.

Marcos was forced to shoot his way out of the situation, but it got them Ulan’s phone number. They then traced that number to find out that Ulan had come to the United States to murder the gang’s families. They found him. They stopped him from killing people. They just weren’t quick enough to stop Shorty’s murder. The DEA hadn’t protected Shorty like they promised they would. They had him moved and he was killed during the transfer. And now they’ve lost a valuable asset in Marcos because he was angry as hell.

Deacon eventually got Sanchez to come to him. He told the other man to back off or he’ll go after every one of Sanchez’s clients.

And Hicks was celebrating forty years on the job only he prevented the others from throwing him a celebration. He didn’t wanted to be reminded of everything he lost. Hondo made due by giving him a bottle of his favorite alcohol. And that wasn’t enough.

THE END!
