In tonight’s Station 19 episode, Maya was in a better place now. She knows now that she has to work on herself. She knows that she’s lovable the way she is. She doesn’t always have to win to earn love. She was shaking off all the bad behaviors of her past and she was hoping to start fresh. Her therapist warned her though that she shouldn’t rush back into a relationship.
Maya was married and her marriage was push to the breaking point because Maya wasn’t dealing with her issues. She may be doing better now only she still has a lot of work to do before she can truly prioritize her marriage the way it should be. And so Maya was told to give Carina space.
Maya lasted all of a week before she ignored that advice. She contacted Carina. She told Carina that she was in therapy and that she couldn’t wait to talk to her. Maya ignored Diane’s advice because she was worried. She was afraid she had pushed Carina too far to ever get another chance. She was afraid her marriage was over for good. She just didn’t want Carina to walk away now that she was fighting to save their marriage and so she shot off a quick voicemail to her wife when she didn’t get her on the phone.
Maya was still out on medical leave. She probably forgot about the free clinic at Station 19 because Carina was still helping out their friends by being the doctor on call there. Carina hadn’t told the others about how bad it had gotten with Maya. She actually didn’t mention Maya at all at to the others because the focus was on the patients and there were a lot of patients. There was a pregnant woman that came in because she was friends with a former patient of Carina’s. She heard that Carina was a really great doctor. She also heard that Carina was truly beautiful.
The patient’s name was Pam Williams. She has a regular OBGYN although she doesn’t think he listens to her when she mentions her concerns and so she wanted to see a second doctor to make sure the first doctor wasn’t missing anything. She also wanted to flirt with Carina a bit. Pam was single. She didn’t want to wait to meet the right person before having a baby and that’s when she decided to have a baby on her own. Her pregnancy has been smooth sailing so far. Only she has heard the horror stories about doctors missing things.
Carina checked out Pam. Everything looked good. She also got a sense of Pam and she felt Pam was going to be a good mother. She even said as much to Pam. If anything, Pam was just a little too curious. Pam asked Carina if she was married. She asked if she wanted kids. Carina had needed someone to talk to and so she told Pam everything. She mentioned how she was going through in vitro when she put it on pause because she was separated from her wife. Which Pam took as an incentive to keep flirting.
Pam wasn’t being overbearing or anything. She was just making Carina laugh. Carina deserved to laugh after everything she’s been through and the others noticed that Pam was making Carina laugh. Jack noticed. Jack thought it was concerning. He wanted Carina and Maya to get back together. He told Ben about the flirting. He wanted Ben to do something and Ben refused because he thought two women talking was harmless. Jack on other hand tried to monitor the situation in case he had to tell Maya about it.
The others chose to focus on a man named Vince. Vince came in with a burn. Something they easily treated, but they also noticed that his stomach was filled with fluid and they suspected he was dying of liver disease thanks to cirrhosis. Vince was a drunk. He was even drunk when he went to the clinic. The firefighters couldn’t get him treatment nor could they convince him to go to the hospital. They were going to leave it at that when Captain Beckett intervened. Beckett demanded that Vince get taken to the hospital. He said he’d do it if they wouldn’t.
They wouldn’t do it and so he admitted Vince was his uncle. His barely in the picture uncle. Beckett comes from a long line of drunks and Vince pretty much ghosted the family to go on a bender. He even missed his own brother’s funeral. Vince was so far gone that nothing Beckett said got through to him and he was going to walk out without going to the hospital when he began to have a seizure right there in the clinic. Luckily, Ben was on the scene. Ben offered first aide and Vince ended up going to the hospital in spite of his wishes. And Beckett used that as another reason to drink.
Montgomery and Andy meanwhile took Montgomery’s campaign manager on a ride along in the aide car. Eli thought he was just going to see a couple of heart attacks. He ended up getting punched during a teenage fist fight over a love triangle. He also saw Montgomery calmly save the life of a kid that got stabbed by a mascot suit. And Eli’s favorite part was when he saw Andy in a bath towel.
Eli later asked Andy out on a date and she said “yes”.
Theo went back to his old neighborhood to do safety inspection. He almost had to shut down the local barbershop and it made him realize that he was trying to get something back when he visits the old neighborhood again.
And Carina told Maya that she needs space. She tried to get Maya help for a year and Maya pushed her away. So, now its only far that Carina takes a breather to focus on herself for a change.
THE END!
