In tonight’s Station 19 episode, under Theo’s rule, things were a lot more relaxed at Station 19. The firefighters got to enjoy their day. They danced when they weren’t on calls. They made jokes. They were like a real family again and so everyone was enjoying Theo’s brand of leadership. But naturally someone took things too far.

They forgot to turn off the pot before they went on call. It had been Jack’s responsibility. He forgot about the pot after he suffered a fall in the kitchen and he then left a stove top unattended. The pot caught fire. It triggered the sprinkler system. Vic was there to put out the fire only everything they cooked for dinner that night had been ruined.

It also angered Theo. Theo came back to a destroyed dinner as well as a messed up kitchen. Theo couldn’t believe that firefighters would start a fire at their own firehouse. He began feeling like maybe Andy has it out for him and that she was sabotaging him like she did Beckett. Only Andy didn’t sabotage Beckett.

Beckett was an alcoholic and he needed help. Andy also didn’t make a move against Beckett until Theo forced her hand. The only reason he was forgetting that part because now he was in the hot seat. He wanted to look good in front of the bosses and little mistakes like Jack’s were making him look incompetent.

Theo needed someone to blame, but rather than blame the person responsible, he lashed out at Andy. He knew that Andy deserved his job. He later told Vic that he constantly felt her eyes on him.

He thought Andy was judging him for taking the job. He didn’t know that she was offered the leadership position first and that she turned it down. She didn’t want to be a fill in for Beckett while Beckett was in rehab. She wanted to earn a permanent position as captain because of her own merits. And so Andy asked everyone who knew what happened to keep it to themselves.

Andy didn’t actually want to shake Theo’s confidence or undermine him. He was a friend. She was trying to be supportive and at the same time she had questions about why Sullivan didn’t get the job.

Andy had turned down the job because she said it should be offered to Sullivan. Sullivan has leadership experience. He was once Battalion Chief in the Seattle Fire Department. He was even once a captain. He came up through the ranks. Unlike their current Fire Chief. There was no reason he should have been passed over and it made Andy curious that he was.

Andy tried to ask Sullivan about it. He wouldn’t confide in her the reason he got passed over only Maya knew. Maya has concrete evidence that Sullivan was sleeping with Fire Chief Ross. She was given a dossier on the Fire Chief that included photos. She could tank Ross’s career with those photos, but she hasn’t done that yet because she’s already tried something similar. She tried to blackmail the Fire Chief into getting her old job as captain back. It didn’t work. Sullivan and Ross pretended to breakup when really they went undercover.

They pretended to be strangers who came across each other accidentally on a dating app. Sullivan’s friends had even made fun of a woman who went by the nickname of “milkmaid”. They didn’t know that she was secretly Fire Chief Ross or that she and Sullivan had never actually broken up. Only Maya now knows the truth. She didn’t tell Sullivan or the Fire Chief that she knew. She was sitting on the information as she thought through everything. And she was trying to work on her marriage to Carina when Carina’s new friend made her jealous.

Carina got called out to a scene of a women in labor. The woman was actually a patient of Carina’s. It was Pam and Pam needed serious help. She got her hand stuck in a vending machine thanks to some pregnancy cravings. Carina needed firefighters to assist with the rescue. She asked Maya and Ben for their help.

Those two were supposed to get the woman’s out of the machine while Carina delivered the baby. There were a few complications with this grand plan. The vending machine was like a bank vault the way it was so complicated. The baby was also turned in the wrong position. Carina had to maneuver the baby into the correct one.

As she was doing that, Pam’s arm began feeling numb. She could barely feel it anymore and so everyone should have been focused on getting her out of that machine in one piece only Maya had questions. Maya had never heard of Pam before. She was therefore surprised when Pam mentioned that she and Carina went out for drinks. Pam also called Carina by name and so Maya asked Carina about it. Carina claimed she was a friend. Which was worrisome to Maya because Maya knew all of Carina’s friends. Or she did before they had a separation. And she didn’t know this Pam.

Maya also wasn’t the only one that got such a surprise. Sullivan has also been keeping secrets from his girlfriend. He didn’t tell her he applied for a job on the other side of the state as a Battalion Chief. He would have to leave SFD, but he would be returned to his rank and he doesn’t have to worry about his relationship affecting his career. He didn’t tell Ross about this decision. He let Theo be the one to tell her. He later explained that they don’t talk about work anymore. If they did, then she would have told him about making Theo captain before she did it.

It was a little tit for tat. It also showed Ross that her career wasn’t a priority for him if he didn’t get what he wanted and so she seriously thought about the future of their relationship. She thought about it. She realized she was in love with him and she came right out to ask him if he was breaking up with her. He claimed it wasn’t that. He said they could continue seeing each other. She said that they would barely get to see each other with her new job and so he reminded her that they barely see each as it is. The future of their relationship was up in the air.

But Montgomery decided he was dropping out of the mayoral race. He was going to concede to Robel Osman because he didn’t want to split the progressive vote. He also thought Osman deserved the position more than him. Osman was a real politician. Montgomery only got in the race to beat Dixon.

He was willing to concede the race if it meant Dixon still loses. It also left Eli without a job and so Montgomery begged Osman to hire Eli. And he thought that would be enough for his former campaign manager except Eli wasn’t happy that he now has to beg for a job when they came so close to winning.

Eli and Montgomery had slept together. It ended any possible future that Eli might have had with Andy. And so Montgomery was wondering if he was problematic.

Carina meanwhile delivered Pam’s baby. He was a healthy baby boy. He was his mother’s whole world and she would be too busy with him to become a credible threat to Carina and Maya’s marriage. Maya also told Carina about the photos. She said she wasn’t going to do anything about them. Only she did tell Andy because she thought Andy deserved to know. And Andy was so angry that she wanted to kill Sullivan.

It didn’t help that Andy also confronted Theo about his behavior and she basically told him he only has the job because of her. And so he needs to stop whining.

Jack later fainted on them because Theo almost missed the signs.

THE END!
