In tonight’s #Survivor episode, Bruce Perreault was back for the forty-fifth season of “Survivor”. He had gotten med evac off the island much too soon for his game. He never got to finish his season and so this season was his redemption. He joined a group of seventeen complete strangers. But not all were happy to see him.

They thought he had an unfair advantage coming back this year. Bruce tried to deny that claim. He swore that the game was forever changing and that no one knew what to expect. And so someone pointed out that he had key knowledge of how the game was played, hence he did very much have an advantage.

Not that it was very good! He showed up on his first day in formal pants as well a button down. He was not that serious. He also slowed his tribe down when it came to their first challenge. Bruce was part of the Belo tribe this season.

The other two tribes were Lulu and Reba. Lulu took the lead in the first challenge although they almost lost thanked to Brandon Donlon. He couldn’t make his way back up a ladder on the side of the boat. He said he felt weak. He practically had to crawl the rest of the way to his team. Brandon had dreamed of joining “Survivor” since he was a kid. He now realizes its much harder than it looks.

The Reba tribe ended up winning the first challenge. They received advantages before making their way to their spot on the island. The Belo tribe went next.

The Lulu tribe went last and Brandon couldn’t join his team. Many suspected he suffered a panic attack on the ladder. They wanted him to get checked out first to see if he could still compete or if he needed to be med evac home. While the doctors were looking at Brandon, the others headed to the island. And there was a huge coincidence this year.

The coincidence being there seems to be a lot of attorneys there this season. They were all hiding the fact that they were attorneys because they didn’t want to be seen as strategic.

They thought admitting to be a lawyer would put a target on their backs. Truthfully, they had nothing to worry about with Bruce there. Bruce was a huge target. He tried not to be the “dad” of his group. He said that made him feel old. He told the Belo tribe that he wants to be the fun uncle. He didn’t want to be the leader. He didn’t want to be in charge. He just wanted to have fun with them.

Or so he claimed until they were building their fortress. He suddenly had all this advice. He basically told them what to do or how to do it. He was so the dad! He was also the target. The other tribes weren’t going to let Belo keep someone with previous knowledge of the game. They were going to come after him and so the only way for Belo to stay intact was for them to keep winning challenges. For them to keep winning advantages. The next challenge was called Sweat and Savvy. The two tribes that lost the first challenge were supposed to compete in a test of strength and smarts.

Only both tribes went on to lose. Neither Belo or Lulu won at their second chance of an advantage. They didn’t have machetes or any kind of tools they could use to build a shelter. They were just out there in the elements. The Lulu tribe was already turning on each other. They all found Emily to be too pessimistic. The Belo tribe was faring a lot better because that’s where Bruce stepped in. He showed them how to smash open a coconut. He showed them how to build a fire without flints. He was helping them in building a structure to sleep. Bruce was helpful.

Bruce may not agree that he was helpful, but his previous experience came in handy. He was their natural leader in this situation. The ladies of the Belo tribe also got on really well. They knew that the past few seasons have ended with the women being eliminated first. They didn’t want that to happen again and so they made a secret alliance amongst themselves. They agreed to get the guys off their team first before they go. They first target on their tribe was Jake. Jake made the stupid mistake of admitting he was a lawyer. And now the women see him as a threat.

This included the female lawyer who secretly thought Jake should have been smarter in the game. She lied about being an attorney. So should he. It was Day 1 and alliances were already forming. The Belo tribe secretly had women working together. The Lulu tribe secretly had everyone saying that Emily should get eliminated first. She was just too pessimistic. She would tell them how they were building a structure the wrong way and she never offered solutions. It was like she lived to crap on everyone else’s hardwork.

Emily radiated negativity. Her whole tribe wanted her gone on the first day and it probably didn’t help that her shyness prevented her from making friends. Surviving on a competitive reality tv show meant being friendly could save your game one day. Emily didn’t seem to realize that. The Reba tribe might have won the first advantage except they too had issues. They had a peeping tom issue. Nicholas, who goes by his nickname of Sifu, had spied on the women getting changed. He later claimed that he didn’t try to do it. He said it was an accident and no one believed him. Not while he was laughing about it anyways.

Meanwhile with everyone turning against each other, there was Austin from the Reba tribe. He went to go collect wood from the beach and he found a clue that leads to an idol. He didn’t tell anyone about it. He wanted to keep the idol for himself. He thought he could solve the clues and unfortunately they were really hard. Too hard for Austin to understand. He technically couldn’t vote at tribal until he solved the riddle and found the idol and so he was at a disadvantage until he figured it all out.

The next challenge came up. All three tribes were competing. Reba had a huge lead and then they lost in the second round of the challenge. They had to crawl through mud, carry a bag of coconuts and sandbags, climb up a wall, and put together a giant puzzle. Reba lost their considerable lead. Belo won this challenge first. They won Immunity. Reba was next. They then won Immunity. Lulu lost and so someone from their team was going to be eliminated tonight. Emily was pessimistic. Brandon knew he was the slowest. And Hannah regretted joining the show.

Hannah was even trying to get her team members to eliminate her. She wanted to go back to a warm bed and food. Except Brandon talked her out of that decision. Brandon thought he should go home. He was in constant pain from acid reflux. He knew he was dragging down his team. He kept passing out. He thought he should go home until Emily tried to get him to vote Kaleb out. Kaleb was the strongest member in the Lulu tribe. Him and Sabiyah kept them in the game for as long as possible. Brandon told Kaleb what Emily tried to do.

Kaleb realizes that Emily has no loyalty. He wanted to get rid of her. It was a cross between Emily and Brandon on who was going to get eliminated tonight. Both of them added nothing of value to the tribe. Emily alienated people by trying to think three steps ahead. Brandon cost them two challenges. Then there was Hannah who admitted she wanted to go home. Hannah no longer cared about staying. She told them upfront that she wanted to quit and that she will do that if they don’t vote to eliminate her.

Hannah made everyone vote her out. They didn’t even need to put it to paper. They all vocally said goodbye to Hannah. She put out her torch and she left. Hannah knew she wasn’t cut out to live in the wilderness.

THE END!
