Tonight’s The Bachelorette episode begins in Houston, Texas and it is hometowns. Charity has four guys left, Aaron, Joey, Dotun and Xavier, all very different but special to her. The first date is with Aaron and they are kicking things off in Houston. She and Aaron started on top of the world. It has been ten years since Aaron brought someone home to his family and he is excited. He tells her that he wishes they were talking about love before she met his parents. She is hopeful that they kind find love because the connection is there.
Charity Is meeting Aaron’s mom, dad, his older brother Edward, Erick his little brother and Audrey, his sister-in-law. At dinner, they talk about Charity and Aaron’s journey so far. Erick sees that his brother does really care about Charity, he is happy for him. Erick tells Aaron that she is a nice girl.
Charity sits down with Ethel, Aaron’s mother, all she wants is for her son to be happy and to find someone to love him. Ethel really likes her and asks Charity what she would say if Aaron asked her to marry him today. She says she would probably say no, she wants to be at a place when she says yes to her person it is forever. Next, Charity sits down with Aaron’s dad, he tells her they are so grateful to meet her, but it blows his mind that his son would do this, it is overwhelming, but he trusts his son.
She tells him that Aaron swept her off her feet. He calls her sharp, articulate and beautiful, a keeper. Charity and Aaron leave, after a wonderful day and go to the football field, where he has spent a lot of his life. He brought music and dances with her, it is the first song they have ever danced to, he tells her that he is falling in love with her.
Charity is in Collegeville, Pennsylvania for her hometown date with Joey. Today is a big day, Joey told her that he is falling in love with her and if everything goes great, she is going to tell him that she is falling in love with him to. He has a surprise for her, he brings her for her first tennis lesson. Tennis is a big part of his life, he bought her a cute little outfit to wear while he teaches her how to play. Joey’s uncle Joe shows up and Joey is surprised, but happy because he is very close to him. Joe likes Charity, but he senses something is not right with Joey.
They arrive at the house and Charity meets Joey’s mom Cathy, his dad Nick, his uncle Joe again, his sisters Carly and Ellie, and his brother-in-law Zach. Charity sits down with Carly who asks her if she is falling in love with Joey and she admits that she is. They hug each other. Joey and his mother sit down and she asks him what is unique about them vs the other guys. He says he can be himself around Charity and her with him. His mother tells him that if he is being him and real, she will fall in love with him. Although, she is afraid that he could end up heartbroken.
He says he doesn’t doubt Charity. She wants Joey to find that special person that is as special as him. Joey sits down with Joe next and asks for his opinion. Joe says that today on the tennis court, Joey didn’t seem comfortable, he looked nervous. He is afraid that he is not portraying himself, he is portraying someone that Charity wants. Joe is afraid that Joey is a little bit of a pleaser, and he wants him to be in a relationship where he is being 100% himself. Joey says the next time he sees Joe he hopes he is engaged to Charity.
Next, Joe sits down with Charity and he tells her that it blows his mind that they could be engaged. He thinks he is going to be an amazing husband and dad, but if he is ready right now, he doesn’t know. The challenge that Joe has is that Joey often tries to be who he wants him to be. He tells her about the Tennis court and how he felt that it wasn’t the real Joey. Charity says she feels that she has the real Joey. Joe tells her to be careful with Joey’s heart. Joey and Charity go outside, they sit down and chat, she doesn’t tell her that she is falling in love with him. The car arrives, he hugs her and she leaves. Joey felt uncomfortable vibes when they were chatting, he doesn’t feel confident and worries that this might be the end for the two.
Charity is in Cleveland, Oho to meet Xavier’s family. He makes her happy, but he reminds her of past people who she has dated, so it is concerning to her. He takes her to a knitting lab, when he is stressed, he likes to knit to calm himself. Charity loves the group of people, they are so nice. She loves the experience and seeing Xavier in his element. He tries to approach the relationship with care and patience, like he does knitting.
They had a fantastic day. It’s dark, they head to meet with Zavier’s family. When they walk in, Charity feels so much energy that reflects love. Xavier’s mom has MS, it was a turning point in his life and why he went into research. Xavier’s mom, Tracey, loves the way the two are with each other, seems like they have been with each other a long time. Charity speaks to Chelsea, Xavier’s sister. Chelsea says her brother is ready to settle down and find his person. Next, Charity sits down to speak to Tracey and tells her that she and Xavier are in the same place.
Tracey says Xavier wants to be married, he wants to be a dad, she thinks his fear comes from the short amount of time they have. Xavier’s dad, Clarence, can see that his son feels for Charity a lot, but he doesn’t know if it is love. Xavier tells his mom that he knows Charity is the one but he doesn’t know if she is going to choose him. Xavier’s sister loves Charity and he jokes that she loves her more than him. Xavier and Charity go outside and sit down, he tells her that he is falling in love with her and she is smitten. Charity says that Xavier could be her person.
Charity’s last stop is Fresno, California to meet Dotun and his family. Dotun tells her that his mom and dad are in Nigeria, they go every year for 4-6 weeks. They arrive at the house to meet Dotun’s siblings and his grandmother. His grandmother, Temitayo, says she feels Dotun and Charity are bonded in heaven. They sit outside to share a meal and Dotun’s parents walk in to surprise them, Dotun is over the moon excited, it means so much to him because they sacrificed their time in Nigeria to be there. Charity shares that they went bungie jumping together.
Xavier’s mom, Adenike, sees that there is a connection between the two, she asks her son to have a chat. She asks him if he is in love with Charity, he says it is definitely falling, his brain just has to catch up to his heart. She says she is concerned that Charity will hurt him at the end of this. Charity sits down with his sister; she says her brother is the real him in front of her and she is thrilled.
Next, Charity asks his dad if Dotun would be ready to propose, he says yes. His brother says Xavier is a good guy, down to earth. Charity tells Adenike that Xavier is really special to her. Adenike says she has adopted Charity already; she would embrace her if she became her daughter-in-law. Charity says her feelings are stronger for Dotun after meeting his family. They go outside and there is a vintage Thunderbird, he takes her for a ride to the drive-in movie. On the screen, photos of come up of the two of them growing up, even home videos. Dotun does make her happy and watching back all those moments is special to her. Dotun is ready to have a happy ending.
Back to Los Angeles, and Charity is with Jesse. She tells him it has been an incredible, insane week and she is feeling good. But, having to say goodbye to someone is not a good thing. She gives him a brief recap about her week with all the men. Charity has never been this conflicted, she is falling in love with four people and she cannot picture saying goodbye to any of them.
Time for the Rose Ceremony. Pretty much all the men tell Jesse that they have told Charity that they are falling in love with her and they see a furture with her. Charity arrives, it is decision time. Dotun is the first man to receive a rose, then Xavier and Joey. Charity shockingly sends Aaron home.
Charity says she went with her gut, and she believes if they had more time she could have got to another place with him.
