In tonight’s The Blacklist episode, someone rigged a ferry boat to explode. It killed several people and it wasn’t long before Redington was able to quickly identity the culprit. He knew without a doubt that their bomber was Alban Veseli. Veseli was broken out of custody for a mission not that long ago and the mission was a mass casualty event.
Redington could even prove it was him. He has a witness. He put out some feelers for Veseli after Veseli was freed by Wujing. He got a tip that Veseli was seen at the docks. The docks are no more and there were so many victims it was hard to determine which one was Veseli’s true target or why his new master wanted that person dead.
But Red looked into it. Red went over to Rogelio’s house. He told his friend that the tip had come in too late to help anyone and that he needed Rogelio and his people to do better.
They were going to raise the reward money. This should compel more people to hunt Veseli. If they capture him, Red could bring him in and question him. He wanted to know what happened on that dock. Veseli took several precautions to hide any trace of himself. He wasn’t even worried about the gloves he left behind because there was a deteriorating liquid on them.
Malik wanted the gloves to get tested. He couldn’t run through with their in-house crime scene people and so he went with Red’s guy, Herby. Herby got a sitter for his kids. He came down to their office. He thought it was a blacksite for the CIA at first only he had been told he was wrong.
Not that he stopped guessing in spite being wrong. Herby was able to identify the liquid on the gloves. He said that Veseli must have used this liquid to punch a whole through the ferry boat. Then everything would be happening too fast to respond and that’s how so many people died.
The FBI checked out who has been purchasing enough of this liquid. It came back to the Appalachian Alliance who were supposed to be preserving green space and whose entire company wasn’t real. It was a front although they didn’t know for what.
They also proved this supposed company had bought up enough of this dangerous liquid the day after the ferry explosion to have a second bombing in mind. One of Rogelio’s people claimed to have a tip on this second bombing. Her name was Maria and Red met with her in person.
Red saw instantly through her. He knew she was lying to him. He threatened her life if she didn’t start telling him the truth and so that’s when Maria admitted that she was paid to feed him the tip. Red paid her double for telling the truth. He also let her return home to her children. He’s gotten everything he needed to know from the woman. Red was able to determine that Wujing gave him the tip because he doesn’t care about the next explosion. He was interested in the fallout. Wujing was trying to get photos of Red working with the FBI.
Wujing wants to make that tie because he wanted to out Red as a collaborator for the US Government. He had Veseli set off a couple of bombs and then he had his cameraman taking photos of everyone that shows up to the scene. This cameraman got photos of Dembe. Just not of Red. Red was keeping his head down and Dembe took the tip about the cameraman back to the FBI. They looked into the guy. They identified him. His name is Keith Perry. They also determined that he was using a special camera that automatically uploads to the cloud.
The FBI got a search warrant for the photographer’s cloud account. They were able to search his pictures. It was mostly Ressler and Dembe. So, those guys felt comfortable enough to return to the field. They also brought along Malik. Malik went after the cameraman. She arrested Keith Perry. The guys went running into the building and they stopped a bioweapon from killing everyone inside. They thought they prevented Wujing’s plans. They stopped the cameraman from connecting these crime scenes to Red. It was good work, but they couldn’t celebrate just yet.
Keith had said this all started because of a photo. He saw Red out in person and he grabbed his phone to snap a picture of him only he was too late. All he could photo was the back of Reddington’s head. Keith then started to shop the photo around. He soon learned that no one believed him when he said it was Red. Not until he got a message from Wujing’s people that he realized he could still make a career out of photographing Red. And so Keith will remained detained. He knew about several bombings and he didn’t stop either one.
Red’s people has now been seen several times with the FBI and that included the FBI being first on the scene in many of his cases. So, a connection was still made between Red and the FBI. And Wujing wanted to pay someone to take him out.
Ressler meanwhile celebrated being a year sober and he’s considering becoming a sponsor.
THE END!
