Tonight’s The Blacklist episode begins at a convenience store where a young man is shooting a social media video when another man enters with a gun, and locks the door when he gets inside.

Elsewhere, Cooper gets a call from Dembe, breaking news, local police are working a hostage situation at a convenience store. A young man was live-streaming when the gunman entered, the footage went viral. And, Red appears to be a hostage. If Red is arrested in front of TV cameras they can’t help him. Cooper says the force is already hanging by a thread, Cynthia Panabaker is coming today, she wants a briefing on Wujing. Cooper has told her that Red executed Wujing and recruited the troll farmer. This is not the day for Red to be in this hostage situation.

Cooper tells Malik that she doesn’t know about Wujing and the troll farmer, she has to do inventory of the case files. Cooper tells her to stay on task, she has full security clearance.

Ressler and Dembe show up at the convenience store, they tell the police they will take it from there. The assailant has shouted that if they go near the store he will kill hostages. There is a witness, a woman who left the store just when the gunmen walked in and she says he had a revolver. She says Ji-Min was in the store, a nice lady, a man with a fedora, maybe 4 or 5 hostages. Ressler wants to take complete control of the scene, he wants the local cops and media out. All of a sudden, SWAT shows up.

Ressler tells Sergeant McGinly that he approaches them being there, but they have this. McGinly says when this turned into an active shooter, this became his show.

Dembe calls inside the store, the shooter yells that if anyone tries to go inside he is going to start shooting, he hangs up the phone.

Malik is going over case files and sees personnel, she clicks on her mother’s file.

Panabaker tells Cooper that he is being really quiet. He says they found the body of Wujing and his associate, they were both shot and they have them in cold storage. He didn’t tell her because they are still investigating, the cameras were wiped. She tells him Reddington happened. He built a post office to fool them. Panabaker says this is going to spell the end of them, Reddington’s days of going unchecked are over.

In the convenience store, a shot goes off. Dembe calls inside to find out what happened, nobody answers. Ressler grabs a megaphone and calls out, slowly the door opens, Jin-Min is waving a white cloth and says it is safe, the shooter is shot. Ressler and Dembe go in, thee shooter is dead and Red is not there.

Herbie shows up and he sees Malik who says she took a peak at her mother’s personelle file and discovers that she was adopted. She doesn’t want to drag her brother or father into this until she knows anything, she is thinking this is a mistake. Herbie offers to run a DNA test for her against her mothers.

The shooter’s name is Jack Davis, he has some minor drug offences and drug charges. Dembe tells Ressler the gun was recovered was not a revolver, he recognizes and it belongs to Red. As well, a older man who claims to be one of the hostages is wearing Red’s clothes.

Ressler questions Jin-Min in details, he then speaks to the rest. Turns out, the influencer is the one that grabbed the gunman and shot him with his own gun. Nobody puts Red at the scene. He good news, there is no hard proof that he was there.

Panabaker tells Cooper that she wants Reddington in front of her by end of day, anything less, she is going to the Attorney General. Ressler calls Cooper who asks if he believes Red was in that store, Ressler says yes. Cooper tells him to break those hostages and find Red.

Ressler and Dembe return to the hostages. Ressler tells them that he is from the FBI and he is looking for the most wanted criminal, Reddington. First he takes the fedora from Ron’s head and looks at his jacket, Dembe says they cost $5000 and Ressler says there is no way a truck driver on disability could afford that. Dembe says all their accounts are lies, Ressler says they want the truth or they will arrest all of them for aiding and abetting. Jin-Min is the first to break, she admits Red was in the store.

We see what really happened, Red was in the store. When Jin-Min told the gun man it was over and he hit her over he head, Red appeared with a gun and shot him. He told them that he was a wanted man and they didn’t want to cross him. Red left through the backdoor, he walked two blocks east to a bus station. Dembe says it is not like Red too threaten civilians, but he was desperate. Dembe tells Ressler they should head to the bus station.

Herbie ran the DNA results, he put them in an envelope and gives it to Siya, he says he didn’t look at it, he didn’t eat to breach her privacy. She asks him what he would do and he says if her world view works for her, why fix something that is not broken. She opens it and she is not a match, she does not share the same DNA with her mother.

The Task Force calls into a bus that they think Red got on, Malik and Herbie wait at its last stop, Malik goes inside and it wasn’t Red.

All the hostages meet at a bar, they lied, Red never left through the back door and he didn’t threaten them, he promised them riches if they were to go along with his story. The riches were jackpot rich, he promised to send a repreytantive to the bar to give them their money.

When the store is closed, Red comes out from a trap door on the floor, it’s dark outside, he gets in a car and leaves.

Malik says she went through the case files, Red scrubbed himself from the records, any reference to him or the intel he provided is gone. And, his immunity agreement is gone, its like he was never a part of the team.

Cooper asks Malik if she is ok, she says yes, but she went through the case files, she read how her mother died, she expected the worse. He tells her that Mira Malek was a good woman and fine agent, she saved lives and her loss is unmeasurable.

Panabaker opes the light in her kitchen, she is startled to find Reddington to be sitting there. She tells him she is meeting with the Attorney General, telling them everything and doesn’t care what it costs her. He tells her that Wujing and the Blacklisters he broke out of prison, that mess was because of his former associate Marvin Gerard and it was his mess to clean up. Reddington leaves, Panabaker calls and cancels her meeting with the Attorney General.

Cooper is home, Agnes is reading a book that Pinky dropped off for her. He also wrote a letter for her, Cooper reads it.

The hostages all get their money.

THE END!
