The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers recap for Friday, July 21, reveals that John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) assured Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) that he was as anxious as anyone to see Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) pay for what she’d done.
In the judge’s chambers, Steffy acknowledged that Sheila was still Finn’s birth mom, but he said that didn’t make a difference.
While Steffy was on the phone, Finn flashed back to embracing Sheila during his jail visit and looked pensive.
Next, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) arrived after returning from his trip since he wouldn’t miss this.
Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) knew Judge Evan Scott (Michael Corbett) was tough, so he didn’t think Sheila would get any leeway.
After Finn took a call on Friday’s B&B episode, he ran into Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) in the hallway. Finn was annoyed as he asked what Liam was doing there.
Liam wanted to show his support, so Finn asked if Liam meant supporting his wife.
After Liam said he was there for Kelly Spencer’s (Sophia Paras McKinlay) sake too, he talked about supporting Bill in addition to Steffy.
Finn understood that Liam was going through a hard time due to the end of his marriage, but he warned that he wouldn’t tolerate anything inappropriate.
Although Finn knew that Liam and Steffy had history, he warned that was all it was going to be.
Finn tried to act like Liam shouldn’t be part of this family matter, but Liam wanted to see with his own eyes that Sheila would never pose a threat again.
Once Liam joined Finn in the judge’s chambers, Steffy asked what he was going there.
Liam said it was for moral support and for confirmation that Sheila wouldn’t be able to threaten any of them anymore.
After Sheila was led in, she smiled at Finn across the room. Finn locked eyes with Sheila, so Liam got a quizzical look on his face as he watched the stare-down.
At Il Giardino, Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Eric Forrester (John McCook) spent the morning trashing Sheila for being a sociopath who deserved to be locked up.
Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) defended Sheila somewhat and suggested that maybe she belonged somewhere besides prison – somewhere that could offer her some help.
Brooke argued that Sheila was beyond help at this point, so Eric agreed that she should stay behind bars for the rest of her life.
Talk turned to Bill and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) working together to score a confession.
Brooke also praised Deacon for his role in helping Ridge and Bill catch up to Sheila, but Deacon insisted he didn’t do much.
After Eric and Brooke discussed Bill’s trick, Deacon said it just goes to show that even someone like Sheila needs love.
Brooke and Eric remained unsympathetic since they believed Sheila should be locked up permanently.
Back in the judge’s chambers, Steffy urged Finn to stop making eye contact with Sheila and suggested his bio mom was just trying to get him to feel sorry for her.
Liam noticed the prolonged eye contract as well and once again seemed curious.
Although there were some concerns about Sheila trying to plead guilty to a lesser charge, Carter seemed confident about the confession taking her down.
Once Judge Scott appeared, he launched a speech and clearly wanted Sheila to pay for her crimes. That’s why it pained Judge Scott to admit there was no legal footing for this case.
Judge Scott ran down the list of problems, including unlawful search and seizure as well as misuse of personal connections to federal investigators.
This was a fishing expedition with all kinds of issues, so Judge Scott felt he had no choice but to suppress the evidence.
Without that confession, there was nothing to convict Sheila. That meant Judge Scott had to drop the charges, so Steffy exclaimed that he couldn’t do this.
When Finn and Steffy withdrew their statements and refused to testify, the charges related to the alley incident had been dropped as well.
Judge Scott’s hands were tired, so he officially dismissed the case and ordered Sheila’s immediate release.
Carter piped up about filing an appeal, but Judge Scott pointed out that would be a waste of time.
After Judge Scott told Sheila that she was free to go, he added that he doubted she’d be so lucky if he saw her in his courtroom again.
Sheila hugged her attorney, Russell (Rodney Van Johnson), who went off to handle some paperwork while Sheila waited outside the judge’s chambers.
After Liam noticed another look between Finn and Sheila, he stumbled across a shocking sight in the corridor.
Sheila pulled Finn into another hug, so Liam looked uneasy as Finn hugged back.
