The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers recap for Thursday, February 16, reveals that John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) asked if Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) was sure she wanted Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri) to come live with them.
Steffy insisted she wanted Douglas to be a carefree little boy where he was safe and happy.
Since Douglas didn’t feel that way with Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) or Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) right now, Steffy hoped they could give Douglas a little break.
When Hope called Steffy, she revealed that Douglas was packing up some of his things.
Steffy confirmed that they’d be ready for Douglas and urged Hope to focus on the fact that this was only temporary.
Once Hope disconnected, she found Douglas’ book and knew he wouldn’t want to leave it behind.
Hope couldn’t believe this was happening and briefly wondered if they should’ve fought the judge harder, but she ultimately knew they had to accept Douglas’ choice.
Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) insisted Douglas just needed a change of scenery and promised Hope that this too shall pass.
After Douglas came out with his suitcase, he admitted he wasn’t ready to go yet since he had something he wanted to say.
Douglas said he didn’t want Liam and Hope to be sad, so Liam promised they wouldn’t be – though they’d miss Douglas a ton.
Although Douglas would miss them too, he pointed out this wasn’t a goodbye and thought he just needed a change.
Douglas talked about how fun it would be living on the beach and spending more time with Kelly Spencer (Sophia Paras McKinlay) and Hayes Finnegan (Iliana and Vienna Norris).
Once Douglas thanked them for understanding, he whispered to Liam about not letting Mommy be sad.
Liam reassured Douglas before Hope said this would always be his home and that he could visit whenever he wanted.
After Liam said they loved him so much, Douglas replied that he loved them too – especially Mommy.
Hope struggled to control her emotions as she told Douglas they’d always love him and gave him a hug.
At Forrester Creations, Thomas approached Eric Forrester (John McCook) and asked for the opportunity to be part of the family again.
Eric realized Thomas was asking for another chance, but he felt Thomas should be asking the people that he’d hurt the most with his behavior.
Thomas insisted that he wanted to repair every relationship, but he especially wanted to repair things with Douglas since that relationship was the most important thing in the world to him.
Talk turned to Douglas choosing to live with Steffy, so Eric admitted he didn’t see that coming.
Thomas acknowledged that it hurt, but he was starting to see the benefits since winning back Douglas’ trust would be easier if he was over at Steffy’s place.
Eric pointed out that Steffy would put Douglas’ needs first rather than Thomas’ needs, but Thomas said he was counting on that.
Thomas felt it was crucial to nourish his father-son bond with Douglas, so he was glad about having full access at Steffy’s home.
After Thomas said he could come and go as he pleased, he assured Eric that he’d be over at the Cliff House a lot.
Next on Thursday’s B&B episode Finn told Steffy that although he was a little thrown over the news of Douglas living with them, he understood that it was a temporary thing and had no issues with Douglas being there.
That said, Finn just wanted to make sure they considered how this would affect the dynamic of their family.
Once Finn said he didn’t want Kelly and Finn to feel put out in any way, Steffy agreed and thought he was an incredible father.
Later, Hope and Liam brought Douglas over so he could get settled in.
Douglas learned that his room was ready for him, but Steffy noted that his home at the cabin would always be there if he needed it, too.
Before Douglas went upstairs with Finn and Liam, he ran back to give Hope another hug.
Hope told Douglas to be on his best behavior and listen to Steffy as well as Finn, so Douglas said he would and gave her a peck on the cheek.
Once Steffy was alone with Hope, she offered comfort since she knew this must be hard.
Steffy suggested the novelty would wear off eventually and leave Douglas asking to go back to the cabin.
Hope pulled out a list of Douglas’ favorite foods along with some dislikes and hobbies.
After Hope asked Steffy to make sure Douglas was careful around the cliff, she also expressed concern about Thomas coming around.
Steffy insisted Douglas was under her care and that she’d protect him just like he was her own.
After Steffy promised Douglas would be fine, Hope broke down in tears since she’d been bottling things up around Douglas.
Hope confessed it was hard not to feel rejected, but she acknowledged that this was temporary and tried to respect Douglas’ choice.
Once Hope asked Steffy to just please take care of her son, Steffy assured her that she would and embraced her.
