The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers recap for Wednesday, December 20, reveals that Zende Forrester Dominguez (Delon de Metz) pushed Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) to see that Eric Forrester’s (John McCook) final collection was crucial to his legacy.
Zende felt he should be the one to finish it since he had more experience than RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman).
Ridge insisted that Eric chose RJ to help him, but Zende felt it was different now that Eric couldn’t guide RJ through the process.
Ridge stood his ground on working with RJ, but he suggested they could use Zende’s help.
Once Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) entered and said she was ready to head to the hospital, Ridge told Zende this was “to be continued” and left with her.
In the design office, RJ thanked Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) for her support and suggested Eric would want him to work with Ridge to complete the line.
A Forrester Creations employee named James (Matt Klotz) came in and mentioned that the news about Eric was hitting the media, so RJ sent him to go check in with Katie Logan (Heather Tom).
Once Steffy and Ridge appeared, they asked RJ if he wanted to come to the hospital with them, so he quickly agreed.
Afterward, Zende found Luna and got updates on RJ going to the hospital with Ridge and Steffy.
Once Zende said It’d be nice if Ridge invited him to come to the hospital, he admitted sometimes he felt like he wasn’t fully part of the family.
Zende wasn’t trying to trash Luna’s boyfriend, but he argued that RJ’s weeks of working with Eric couldn’t compare to his own years of working with him.
Luna acknowledged that Zende was frustrated and disappointed, so she touched his shoulder and offered some comfort.
At the hospital, Dr. Martin (Cirie Fields) consulted with John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) and Bridget Forrester (Ashley Jones) on Eric’s case, so they were grateful for the help.
Bridget hated seeing Eric struggling on a ventilator like this and worried that maybe Ridge was right – that they should’ve just let him go.
Finn said there was still a chance for Eric to recover, but Bridget wanted her dad back the way he was before.
Once Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) and Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) walked in, they were eager for answers about whether Eric would pull through.
Bridget admitted she didn’t know before Finn piped up about needing more test results.
Donna was frustrated and felt there surely must be some sign that the treatment was working, but Bridget suggested they’d just have to wait and see based on the lab work.
Brooke encouraged Donna to take a breather in the waiting area, where Steffy, Ridge and RJ all showed up and got the news that there’d been no change in Eric.
Ridge fumed since this is exactly what Eric didn’t want – to be hooked up to machines keeping him alive.
Eric could’ve been spared this, so Ridge wrestled with the call he’d made to move forward with the experimental treatment.
Finn noted that they wanted to take Eric off the ventilator, but his pulmonary condition had to improve first. Ridge continued to rant since he didn’t think Eric would want this.
In Eric’s room, RJ took his granddad’s hand and talked about how much it meant when Eric asked him for help on his final collection. Since RJ didn’t think it was Eric’s time to go, he insisted Eric had to fight.
Next on Wednesday’s B&B episode, Steffy spoke to Eric about how she had a family of her own now, but things wouldn’t be the same without her big-hearted grandfather.
Steffy wondered if it was selfish of her to want Eric to fight and come back to them.
After Steffy reflected on how Eric could be at peace with Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) right now, she pointed out that he wouldn’t be tied up to all the tubes and machines.
Steffy said Eric looked trapped, so she worried maybe Ridge was right. It left Steffy wondering if they hadn’t honored Eric’s wishes, so she cried and told Eric that she was so sorry.
Steffy assured Eric that if he didn’t want to fight anymore, he could let go and that they’d all be OK. After Steffy kissed Eric’s head, she cried in Finn’s arms.
The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers say the Forresters and Logans still have some dramatic moments ahead of them, so stick with the CBS soap.
