In tonight’s The Equalizer episode, there were migrants that were put on buses to New York City. The city wasn’t warned about them. They weren’t given extra funding to assist with them and so one congresswoman decided to help out. She wasn’t all talk like the rest of them. Congresswoman Elena Acevedo agreed to let two migrants stay at her home.

They were Marisol and Jaime Perez. They were a married couple. They had to flee an unsafe situation back home. They therefore got scared when they heard gunshots at the congresswoman’s home. Jamie went to go check it out. He found the congresswoman on the floor. He got covered in blood and he never saw the shooter.

Unfortunately, Jamie got blamed for her eventual murder. He was being charged with murder. There were plenty of people that assumed he did it because he was an immigrant and they didn’t start digging into anything else until Robyn McCall began representing Jaime. Jaime’s wife hired her. Marisol swears Jamie didn’t do this. She said they were respectable people back in their home country. They were young professionals who were forced to flee because their country became overrun with corruption.

They weren’t criminals. They were only getting blamed for the crime because they were immigrants. It also doesn’t help that everyone wanted to be smug about the congresswoman’s death.

Congresswoman Acevedo was very outspoken. She was very liberal. There used to be a time when you could disagree about politics and still grab a drink afterwards, but nowadays people automatically decide to hate the other side without even hearing them speak. And the only time they were willing to show the congresswoman some respect was now that she’s dead.

Now, it’s all about mutual respect or that they enjoyed working with her. They forget that just prior to her death they were encouraging their base to send her death threats. They figured she had it coming back then.

Only now they ask for respect because they thought they won a point with her death. Her allies even stopped defending her migrant bill because they didn’t want to be seen helping immigrants after one allegedly killed her. There were going to be more people that went without help and the far right just couldn’t help themselves for being smug about her death.

They were using the congresswoman’s death to justify their agenda. There was no one to fight back without Elena. She challenges people and no one wanted to do that without her. But Robyn began looking into her death. She found out that Elena had given some jewelry to the couple before she died. She wanted to help them get funds fast and so she let Marisol sell some of her jewelry. It was supposed to be a favor, but it didn’t look good for Jamie if the police found out about it. And so Robyn kept digging.

Robyn found out there was a protestor outside of the house every night. He’s the one that put up signs about cutting off the head of the snake and he would also allude to the congresswoman being the snake. Harry found the person who was putting out signs. He was anti-immigrants because he said his construction business went under due to others paying immigrants off the books. He failed to realize that helping immigrants get legal work would mean that no competitor would be able to outbid him. He was a jerk only he wasn’t a smart jerk.

He also had an alibi. He put out those signs before seven that night and he was home before the murder. The congresswoman’s chief of staff however claimed to have seen that sign. Robyn and her people knew that Lacey Young was involved. They gave her name to Dante and unfortunately the detective was too late to prevent Lacey’s murder. Lacey was apparently a part of blackmail scheme. Congressman Grey would plant listening devices on liberal congressmen and women. And then use the information to blackmailing them into voting his way.

Grey even got a recording of the murder. He only got to Lacey because Lacey was secretly stealing from the congresswoman’s campaign and so he used that to force her to plant a device on the congresswoman. Only Elena found her doing it. She threatened Lacey with her gun. They fought over it and Lacey killed her. Grey then had Lacey killed to stop her from ever talking. Grey and his aide were behind everything. Robyn managed to find their blackmail material. And now that will be used to send both men to prison for the rest of their lives.

Detective Dante also helped Vi. She had a student that was looking for his brother because they got separated after they entered foster care and so the detective tracked down the brother and reunited the two boys. But Dante began looking into Lo-Lo. He suspected the man in his friend’s shooting. He also suspected him in another shooting though he was warned to back off by another detective.

THE END!
