In tonight’s The Equalizer episode, Robyn visited a place connected to her childhood. It used to be her family’s favorite restaurant back in the day. She used to go there often with her parents and her aunt, but then her father died. The family was forever changed by that one loss. It was a long time before they felt comfortable with going back over there.

She only went back now because Aunt Vi convinced her it would be in the best interest of Delilah. They both wanted to introduce the youngest in their family to all the things they grew up with and Delilah loved the place. She loves their food. She loves the atmosphere. She couldn’t wait to go back.

Robyn was happy that she was able to share this place with her daughter. She even talked about her dad with Delilah. Robyn’s dad was murdered long before Delilah was born. It was a painful memory for Robyn and so she doesn’t readily discuss him with anyone, but it seems returning to the old neighborhood had helped stir things up.

Someone had left a note on her lunch table while the ladies were either in the bathroom or running into old friends. The note had an address on it that also mentioned she should go there to find the “truth”.

No one had seen who left the note. Robyn made sure her family went home and she pursued this “truth” herself. She hadn’t waited for Mel or Harry. She called to tell them she was going to a mysterious address. They told her not to go alone. She ignored them to do that very same thing and it turns out she was led back to a garage.

And inside of that garage, there was her father’s old car. Her father had been murdered for his car and left out to die in the street. He was apparently on his way to picking up Robyn when he died.

Robyn had a special deal with her dad when she was a teenager. She could party with her friends with no questions asked as long as she called her dad to pick her up afterwards. He didn’t want her to try coming home on her own if she had too much. Robyn therefore blamed herself after the cops told her that he was murdered for his car.

This has sat with her for years now and so finding that car helped her to get one step closer to his killer. Mel later showed up. They called the police. The car looked like it had been in that garage since the 70s. And so Robyn wanted to know who the note was from.

Harry started looking into everyone at that restaurant the same time as Robyn’s family were there. Robyn also searched her dad’s car for evidence. She found a name tag that said “Dolly”. One of their neighbors had a daughter nicknamed Dolly. Robyn’s father had seen this young woman being harassed by two young man and he intervened.

He pummeled the guys when they tried to fight him. He gave Dolly a ride home after it happened. Dolly never made the connection between what almost happened to her to what happened to Robyn’s dad.

Dolly didn’t even hear about his death until four months after it happened. Its why she never made a connection but finding that name tag had helped her story get out there. It also gave Robyn her suspects. Dolly described one of the boys that harassed her as wearing an eyepatch over one of his eye.

That along with the receipts from the restaurant helped yield a name. His name is Demetrius Young. He’s blind in one eye. It was his great uncle’s garage where the car was held. Demetrius went to prison for ten years a little after John’s death. His son went missing while he was inside. And he found religion to help him grieve.

Demetrius thought Robyn deserved closure for what happened to her family. He now knows what its like to lose someone you love. He became an iman when he was released from prison and he now was a honored member of the community. Demetrius wasn’t the one that killed Robyn’s dad. He just watched it happen.

He now knows he should have done something sooner and he was ready to make things right. He named John’s killer. It was the other kid that helped harass Dolly. His name is Yancy Turner. He was now a big name in organized crime with overpriced lawyers.

Robyn had wanted to get revenge by simply killing him. Only Detective Dante talked her out of it. He told her that there was a right way to do this and they have Yancy’s fingerprint in her dad’s car as well as a witness.

Robyn chose to do things his way. She passed on the chance of killing Yancy. She told her family that they got justice when the exact opposite happened. Yancy’s high-priced lawyers got him out in an hour. The DA didn’t want to take him to trial because Yancy was still considered a pillar of the community while Demetrius was an ex-con.

Yancy was released and Robyn decided to stop playing by the rules. Robyn found evidence of Yancy screwing over every man that works for him. He has a deal with the feds in which he rats out other people.

Even people that works for him. He also slept with some of their wives while they were locked up. Robyn walked straight into his den with that information. She handed it over to his people. She then walked away knowing that his own men would kill him and she didn’t care. She got justice for her father. And this time its going to be a lasting justice.

But Lolo wasn’t dead. He woke up from his coma. He claimed that Detective Dante pushed him off the roof and now there was going to be an investigation into Dante’s conduct.

And Robyn chose to forgive Demetrius because the world needed more decent man than revenge.

THE END!
