Alex, Asher and Audrey are talking about Carter’s case, Alex wants to put in a pacemaker, but Audrey disagrees, she wants something that will last long term because he is so young, a double switch. Both Asher and Jerome are in the room and there is a lot of tension. Jerome reveals that he is HIV positive, but he cannot transmit the virus.

Asher tries to explain to Carter’s mother and grand-mother. Carter cals out from his room, he doesn’t feel good, his chest hurts. Alex tells them they need a decision soon before his condition deteriorates.

Jerome goes in to see Audrey and tells her that he is sorry, it was unprofessional for him to blurt out that he is HIV positive. She tells him to give Asher time, he has years to process this, he has to give Asher time to process it as well.

Jared and Jordan are together, they chat and she tells him that he is spoiled. He comes from money, comes in with his fancy car. He is the new kid, Shaun is the boss and she has seniority, he should be humble. He says he just wants to prove to everyone that he belongs there, but she is right. Shaun walks in, he looks at the image and says that their patients diagnosis was incorrect, she doesn’t have Tourettes syndrome, she has a brain tumour. Shaun goes to tell his patient and her mother, the tumour is not cancerous and should stop the seizures. The ticks might remain, but there are other options if they continue in the future. Jared suggests tumour resection but it can cause stroke, partial paralysis, meningitis, there are safer ways.

Shaun goes to see Lea and tells her that it is not fun to work with a friend. She tells him to give it time, it is his first day.

Asher is having lunch when Jerome sits down with him and says he really messed up, he should have trusted him and been upfront. When he got his diagnoses it was hard to get back out there and date, guys didn’t want to be with him. So when he came into his life, he was too scared to tell him the truth and he is sorry. He made a mistake and it doesn’t change who he is. Asher says it maybe changes the way he feels.

Carter is in distress, he is turning blue and his blood pressure is dropping. In the end, his grandmother gives in and tells them to do the redirection that his mother wanted.

Jared tells Jordan that she was right, he came out of the gate too strong. She tells him to listen. This whole case he has been shortcutting, stop flexing and just listen.

Shaun’s patient is ready to go in for surgery, but her mother was more time to talk to her daughter.

Shaun goes to speak to Aaron and tells him about Jared and his keep trying to offer advice. Aaron reminds him that he needs to give Jared the same opportunities that he had, even if he is a pain in the ass. Shaun tells Aaron to scrub in for the surgery.

In surgery, Shaun tells Jared that he is going to close, this was his surgical plan. Jared is surprised.

Carter is awake and says tat he is hungry, Asher tells him that he can have as many chicken nuggets as he wants.

Shaun removed all of Yara’s tumour, her memory is intact, her ticks are gone. She thanks Jared, and looks over at her mother with a smile for letting her have the surgery that removed all the ticks.

Marcus tells Jared good job on the case. Jared asks him to judge him on his work, not on Shaun. He wants to stand on his own and prove that he is an asset to the hospital. Marcus nods and says he will be watching.

Asher apologizes to Jerome for being such a jerk, he says he should have trusted that they could work this out together. He says he has never been in love before him, and grabs his hand. They make up, Jerome tells him that he loves and needs him to believe that.

Shaun tells Jared that he is a good doctor, he wants to continue to be his friend and his boss with boundaries. One rule, he will refer to him as Dr. Kalu when he is his boss and Jared when they are friends.
