Tonight kicked off Season 10 of the Masked Singer! Ten seasons and there only getting better with each one. The show was off to a rockstar start with the AnonyMouse. She performed “What About Love”. She has an amazing voice as well as star power and her big clue tonight was that she was on the Times100 list. Only the most influential celebrities are on there. AnonyMouse also mentioned that she looked up to her fellow women on that list which included Angelina Jolie and Oprah Winfrey.
AnonyMouse’s performance was eventually followed up by one of their celebrity guests. He was wearing the Peacock costume. He also sang “The Greatest Show” and so there’s no doubt about who he is. He was a former contestant after all. The show also looked back tonight on the wildest unmaskings they’ve ever had. There was Kermitt the Frog. There was Dick Van Dyke. There was William Shatner. Although, none was as funny as Donny Wahlberg because his own wife hadn’t figured out it was him. And he was standing right in front of her.
There were more celebrity guests’ appearances. Rumer Willis along with Michelle Williams performed “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman” together. They were happy to be back. They were also happy to be performing without the masks this time because they could barely see under that thing. Michelle even pointed out that her breathing was better without the mask. More clues were dropped tonight. AnonyMouse revealed she’s an actress. She said her fingerprints were literally printed in cement and so she could have a Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Her acting clue on the other hand had stumped the judges. They knew there were only a few women to successfully cross over from acting to singing or what they theorized was singing to acting. Names like Jennifer Hudson as well as Demi Lovato were thrown around. Someone suggested Pink. The Pink theory seemed closer to the truth just based off of AnonyMouse’s voice but that could be who she styled herself after. Sometimes unintentionally people mimic the voices in which they last heard that song.
Joey Fatone came back tonight for a guest appearance. He performed “ABC” by Jackson 5. He did all the voices and that included Little Michael’s voice at the time. He was then joined by Bow Wow. Both of them were hitting those high notes. It was great to see them and there were more surprises. The show did a countdown of their greatest performances. Coming in at number two was Tori Kelly with “My Heart Will Go On”. It had been a truly breathtaking performance. And it was hard to remember who had topped that one.
It turns out the greatest performance in the show’s history (at least ruled by the audience) belonged to T-Pain. He performed “Stay With Me” with such devotion that it was right up there with the original. He was on Season 1 and so who knows what awaits those in Season 10. Several clues were dropped about the masked singers soon to come. There was the Royal Hen. He was known in the United States as well as globally. There was the Husky. He had a ten million dollar hint in his package.
Nicole Scherzinger performed a couple of times tonight. She first sang “Meant to Be”. Yet, it was her performance of “Purple Rain” that really blew everyone away. She was such a talented singer and that’s one thing the Pussycat Dolls couldn’t take away from her. Nicole, along with her fellow judges, would later make their final guests for AnonyMouse. Robyn thought she was Demi Lovato. Ken thought she was Lady Gaga. Nicole also went with Demi Lovato. And even Jenny thought she was Demi Lovato.
When AnonyMouse was unmasked, she was revealed to be Demi Lovato. Proving once again that Ken will most likely be wrong and everyone else will be right. And so it was great to see and hear from such an amazing voice like Ms. Lovato.
